Four Colour Print Option for Clients We are pleased to announce the installation of our new four colour printer. This offers us the option of printing in true colour, in bulk and at speed. Rob Wray, the MPH IT & Development Manager said; “Unlike most companies in our sector, we are not the trading arm of a charity, or have funding from Government to fall back on, when we invest one hundred and seventy thousand pound, this has came out of someone’s pocket. I am genuinely amazed at the level of investment the shareholders of MPH are willing to keep letting me make to improve our services. I take my role in MPH very seriously and the advice I give is to ensure that all of our clients can get the best service possible at the most cost effective prices while matching their customers expectations. This printer offers us the facility to do this more effectively.” Alan Matthews, the Group MD, went on to say; “Our clients have a high expectation as do their customers, Rob and I would not be fulfilling our roles if we did not continue to improve how we do what we do. This printer for instance offers us the facility to add colour into Large Print, where relevant, it offers us the opportunity to ensure we can print the original communication for all of our clients’ daily transactional mail as well as the large Direct Mailings we undertake and ensure the integrity of the clients information by doing this all in-house.” Rob added; “This was the next logical step in our continual improvement stratergy, this matches the standard of our mono printing capability and ensures that we can offer the fastest turn around and the most robust SLA’s that there are in the market. We understand that any delays in billing impacts on the income of our client base, this is raised as a priority with our clients in our meetings with them and this machine helps us to alleviate that delay. In some cases we are dispatching print the day before the standard print customers get theirs! Now that is what I call true equality”. Inside – A new format that everyone will want!

A Format Made to Make Your Mouth Water? Chocolate Braille, the latest innovation from…….. no not MPH Transcription services but from the Manager of the MPH Training and Conference Centre.

Lyndsey Burdis, the MPH Training and Conference Centre Manager (pictured here) said; “As regular exhibitors at business roadshows and events MPH wanted to produce a promotional giveaway that turned heads and stood out from the crowd. And how better to promote your brand and what you do but by showcasing it on chocolate!”

Alan Matthews, Group MD said; “When Lyndsey came to me I had no hesitation in saying go ahead, it is a great idea of hers and one of many she keeps coming up with although in this case I think there may have been a little self interest! After much deliberating over phrases and then the unenviable job of sourcing a chocolatier that was able to produce Braille embossed on chocolate the final two designs were decided. The result? Small, individually wrapped chocolates brandishing two different phrases in Braille, an ideal giveaway to existing and potential new clients”. Lyndsey went on to say; “I am delighted that this idea has come to life. Being able to offer people a chocolate, which is an instant advert for our business is great fun and is a fabulous marketing tool. At the recent North East Expo the chocolates gained so much publicity that other businesses were taking pictures and posting them on twitter so that others could see, I had enquiries before I even got back to the office. The only two questions that remain on everyone’s lips are “what do they actually say?” and “can I have some more please?” Well for the answer I guess you’ll have to speak to us or come and see us at one of the many shows we exhibit at”.

New Training Courses for the Summer from CCT MPH’s Customer Centred Training Section are answeri ng a call from the MD to offer a course to aid the unemployed!! They have re sponded admirably by developing a course for those without IT experience , it is our; Basic introduction to IT skills course June Brewis, the MPH Training Provisions Manager said; “We want to help unemployed people get the skills they need to move back into work and we mean real skills that are useful to the learner and a future employer. This course is suitable for anyone looking for a career change or who wishes to update their skills. The course details and its aims are quite simple, over a five week period, working two days per week, we will assist anyone who has come from a manufacturing background gain some real valuable experience using computers. We will also help and improve the skills of someone with some computer knowledge.” John Crocker, the IT Trainer responsible for developing and offering the course says; “The course is fully funded by the Skills Funding Agency, meaning that tuition, materials, use of computer equipment and certification are provided free of charge. This is crucial for anyone trying to develop their skills but has only the unemployment benefit for an income. This course will gain in popularity once word has got out there that we are doing it, and most importantly, that it is of value and an opportunity to really learn new skills.” June added; “We are very lucky that we are in a position to develop this, we will of course look at how we can sell similar courses to the Group’s clients as long as they are of value to them. I can only say that I am very lucky to have staff like John who are sympathetic to those who may have not had the chances we have to learn IT and that they present the course with tact and understanding. Long may we be in a position to do so. Of course we also have the benefit of a disabled person as MD, it is amazing the difference this makes to people who come into the company. I am convinced that people look at the MD and think if he can do it, so can we” For information about any of the MPH training cours es, please contact June on: [email protected], or call her on 0191 469 9486

You may have spoken to this lady, and to all she is known as Tree. Her official title is Customer Liaison Co-Ordinator, she is the voice of MPH, and to all and sundry she is known as ‘Tree’. Teresa Burge is one of the longest serving personnel at MPH and has been with us now for more years than I will admit on paper.

Tree has moved up through the company and has a long-term position in the transcription section. Her role is to know where each piece of work is in the company, when it came in, when it was dispatched and to iron out any little problems we may have with getting all of the information about the work. As I am sure you will know, or those of you who have to call into the MPH transcription section, Tree has a sunny and cheery voice, which is ideally suited to her role. Her immediate manager Coreen Ward says; “Tree is one of those people who are in the ideal job for them. She likes to talk to people, has time for them, is interested and will always do her best to ensure that the customer gets the answer they need. I have been a friend and colleague of Tree

since before we both joined MPH and I have to say she is consistent, what you hear on the telephone is who she really is. There are no airs and graces, and good for her, Tree is her own woman and to me that is a good thing. She is a really highly valued member of my team and she makes coming into work worthwhile.” Alan Matthews, the Group MD said, “Tree, and people like Tree, are MPH. It is their commitment and knowledge, which makes the difference in what we do. Without the hard work by Tree, our customers would not have the service they get, I know this well as everyone who visits wants to meet her.” Coreen added, “Tree has the X factor, that thing in MPH staff which makes them special and makes what we do as good as it is. Tree and the people around her are what our client’s need and we have this in droves throughout the company.

Teresa said: ”I am probably in the right job for me, I like to talk, ask any of my friends, they might even say getting me to stop is the problem! Really though, I love my job, it is really very difficult at times especially when you have just got off the telephone to one client and while you are trying to answer their query another one comes in straight away.

I know this is what we are here to do but it is sometimes quite frantic, I do realise though that every call is important and that each customer is only interested in their work. I am not suggesting there is just me, I have a range of people in my team, but it is generally me who is the first point of contact.” She added; “Our company is focused on customer service. If we do not get this element of our service correct then it does not matter how hard we work it will not mean anything. I want our customers to feel they can call up and get their queries answered without any effort and that we value the day-to-day contact we have with them. The MD insists that this is the case and to be honest I would not have this any other way. My team are aware that what we

do is vital to the smooth running of the business and that the view of the client is based upon the service they recieve from us. Quite a responsibility.” Group MD, Alan Matthews said; “I feel very honoured to have people like Tree work with me, there are range of people who are the driving force behind MPH and I am proud of them all. This section of the newsletter offers me an opportunity to thank those people who you, as a client, rarely see. Tree is correct when she says we are focused on customer service, we certainly are and whether this is reception and switchboard, Admin, IT, Maintenance or any other section of the company including my excellent cleaning team, if they do not do their job then we cannot do ours. I am proud of them all and Tree is one of the people who make it all worthwhile and more importantly make it all work”. Tree adds jokingly; “The MD knows when I am in a go od mood as I sing, when the singing stops though, he keeps away! I don’t blame him,” she laughed.

Foreign Language Translations as well as Accessible Formats In a venture aimed at offering our client’s the mos t diverse and robust service possible we can now offer foreign language translat ions live over the telephone as well as our normal foreign language print or audio translations and accessible format production. “There are no set-up fees and all you pay for are the calls,” said Hayley McLaren head of Media and Sales. “The MD wanted this to be a service which simply could be added to those we already have and I am happy to say this is what we have managed to do. Not only are there no set-up fees but we can also offer costs down to the second used.” Hayley went on to say; “We have over 120 languages and the service is offered by giving you a unique code, which you use when you ring up, from this point you will be invoiced monthly if you wish and the invoice will be fully itemised with time used, languages accessed and the amount of calls. We continue to offer our print translation service where we can offer you communications in the same range of languages and we will make sure that this is done as cost effectively and as pro-actively as we can.”

Social Media – The Way Ahead Whether it is for promotional purposes, gathering i nformation, developing a forum or informing a professional group, you cannot escap e the Social Media network in business today.

Do you remember a time when we had no electronic devices and people chatted on the telephone??

We communicated with our customers via letter and then email changed the way we communicated to staff, clients and customers but has social media changed the way we communicate? Absolutely. MPH as a company find it one of the easiest ways to let our customers know about special offers, promotions and new products.

Hayley McLaren, Sales & Media Manager manages the MPH Social Media pages on behalf of the group. She said; “As a communication tool, for me it is the fastest way to communicate with our clients. We can add a video to the YouTube channel and within minutes it is global. We tweet about one off promotional offers, for example we

have cut the price of our hand held care packs. Rather than wait for the next issue of our newsletter we have put the information online. We also promote the company and any open vacancies on Twitter and Facebook. As so many people are online now we can do this via trending and the use of the #. This is a great support tool for our usual advertising channels.”

MPH have a number of ways that we use social media, we have twitter, a facebook page and a YouTube Channel.

@MPHGroupUK is our twitter account, you can follow us for up to date offers on our products and services and one off special offers that we do not offer elsewhere. www.facebook.com/MPHGroupUK is our brand new Facebook company profile page. You can see images of our products, find out about our services and company information.

All of our group promotional videos are on our new YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/mphgroupuk. You can find out via video information about the 5 sections of the Group as well as view our BSL & Audio promotional videos. For more information please contact us on 0191 438 6063 or @MPHGroupUK

MPH Going Global! Russia Is The Start In an exciting new venture MPH are about to sell th eir wares to the Russian Market place. Group MD Alan Matthews and the Groups Princi pal Access Consultant, Jim Taylor have undertaken a trip to Russia. Jim said; “During the visit Alan offered a lecture at the Moscow University, one at the University in Sochi, the home of the next Winter Olympics and we visited a number of building projects to offer our input. It is all very exciting and Alan and I both feel very lucky to be offered this opportunity.” Jim added; “It is a testament to the diversity of MPH that we get involved in a project such as this and we are assured that we can offer help in a number of areas whilst ensuring our approach is pragmatic and holistic, something we have found works well for the client.” Alan Matthews, Group MD said; “We have had this approach for many of our clients, we may be advising on or producing accessible formats for them whilst sitting on a design team for a re-design of a building or a web-site. This is exactly what our client’s want, a range of services, which they can cherry-pick from as they need them. I am as proud of our legal services team as I am of my Studios team, likewise with training, access,

transcription and all of the other services we have become renowned for providing, this is the benefit of being a commercial business to business supplier.” Alan went on to say; “We are in the fortunate position that many of our client’s have an International footprint. It is not a massive leap to advise another Government, than it is to speak to senior members of our own Government. If we can advise one of our larger corporate

client’s, then we can advise another one in another country as easily. The one certainty is we all want good access and good access helps everyone not just disabled people. This also means good intellectual access as well as physical access.”
