MRROS is Margaret River Region Open Studios, an incorporated not-for-profit organisation administered by a Board of professionals, artists, volunteers and contracted personnel whose aim is to promote Visual Arts throughout the Region.MRROS designs, co-ordinates and promotes an annual Open Art Studios Event to showcase the increasingly diverse and vibrant visual arts throughout the Margaret River Region. The inaugural two-week event begins on 19th April and runs until 4th May 2014.Our vision is to develop the event into a celebrated festival of art benefiting the entire community, art loving public and the whole Margaret River Region.

THE MRROS EVENTThe Margaret River Region Open Studios is a 16 day event offering a trail of discovery for all art lovers.

100 visual artists and artisans will open the doors to their art studios and workshops, delivering a unique experience for art lovers to meet the creator of the artwork, peruse original artworks and of course purchase artwork. Work may include painting, drawings, sculpture, hand blown glass, print making, handmade furniture, as well as jewellery, ceramics, textiles and many other media.

Art Trails will be dotted along a map, geographically grouped across Margaret River, Augusta, Busselton, Vasse, Yallingup, Dunsborough, Cowaramup.

Entry is free to all Art LoversEVENT DATES 19th April – 4th May 2014The annual MRROS event launches during the Easter school holidays in artists studios and workshops throughout the Margaret River Region. Participants can elect to open their studios or other venue for all 16 days or choose to close on some of the days.

WHERE100 Artists will open their Art Studios and Workshops across the whole of the Margaret River Wine Region. SEE MAP.

TAKING PART IN THE EVENTCOSTSARTIST MRROS MEMBERSHIP (Annual) $50 per person

ARTIST EVENT PARTICIPATION $150 per person

ARTIST EVENT PARTICIPATION (Art groups, schools, clubs) $250 per group

AM I ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT? The ethos is one of inclusiveness. Professional, established, emerging and hobbyist individual artists or groups working in any medium are invited to open their art studios, workshops and homes to the public over the two week period each autumn. Venues can also extend to wineries, cafes and community premises.

You are eligible to participate if you are:

• A practicing visual artist or artisan residing or working within the MRROS Event region.

• An art group, school, club residing or working within the MRROS Event region.

• All participants must have ARTIST MEMBERSHIP.

• Your registration for the event will be confirmed upon payments of the ARTIST EVENT PARTICIPATION FEE.

Since living in the South West of WA John has continued to teach in schools, lectured in drawing and painting through TAFEWA and now presents private workshops and classes. John has painted traditional portraits from life for many years, most recently Archbishop Hickey in 2011 and Norman Moore 2013.He is frequently represented in exhibitions and galleries in Western Australia with feature articles written about his work in many Australian artists magazines.

John Garde 1

Jenny Sanderson trained and worked as a drafts person for 20 years before becoming a full time visual artist in 1985. For the past 27 years she has worked in various mediums in which she has won a range of awards. Jenny has participated in many exhibitions, including 8 solo, she is represented internationally and in the South West. Jenny graduated in 2013 with a diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy, the same year she was invited to represent the artists of the South West of Australia at Parliament House in Canberra.

Alison Brown is a highly qualified and well-recognised ceramicist and glass artist working from her own studio in Dunsborough, She has a BA in Visual Arts from Curtin University and has extensive teaching and curatorial experience. Alison has shown her work in many individual and group exhibitions and is represented in various State and Southwest galleries. Recently she represented the artists of the Southwest of WA at Parliament House in Canberra.
