Using the Control Button
The triangles work like cursor control keys on a keyboard.
Pressing in on the center of the button works like the enter key on a keyboard.

Open My Computer and double click the 31/2 Floppy (A).
When you select an image file, a preview will be shown.

Viewing with a Card Reader
The Mavica can also store image files on a media card rather than a floppy. The easiest way to move images from cameras using media cards for storage is with a media card reader. Card readers don’t require any software to be loaded on the computer to view the images.

Start the scan by going to Start – Programs – HP PrecisionScan – HP PrecisionScan or by pressing the scan button.

Select the region to scan by clicking on the Select Tool and dragging with the mouse.
The space inside the dotted boundary will be saved as the image.

Click on the Settings tab and set the resolution.
DPI (dots per inch) is set dependent on intended use, in general:
lower for web; higher for print. Lower for big things, higher for small things.

When saving an image, first be sure you’ve located the full size image, as many images will initially be shown as a thumbnail.

Right click on the image (Click and hold on a Mac) to access the dialog box shown at left. Select Save Picture As…

…then name it something meaningful before clicking Save.

Finally, copy the URL where the image came from and paste it where you can access it for citation purposes later.
