Intuitive Test SetupAnintuitivemenustructureofferssimpletestsetupforNoviceand Expert users alike. Test parameters can be configuredmanuallybytheuserorsetautomaticallybytheunit.

Severalwavelengthcombinationscoveringbothmultimodeandsinglemodeapplicationsareavailable,includingshorthaulFTTX,MetroandLongHaulnetworks.

Live Fiber CheckTheOTDRportalsofunctionsasanintegratedpowermetertodetectopticalpowerlevels.ThisfeaturewarnstheuserwhentheOTDRisconnectedtoafibercarryinglivetrafficthuspreventinganypossibleserviceinterruption.

This safetymechanismalsopreventsaccidentaloverloadandpotentialreceiverdamage.Theunitautomaticallychecksiflightispresentatthetestinterfacepriortomakingmeasurementandwilldisablethetransmitterifanactivefiberisdetected.

V-Scout Link MappingAdvanced algorithms evaluate separate acquisitions andcharacterizethefiberspanusingintuitivesymbols.Eachindividualacquisitioncanbecustomizedanduserdefinedasatestprofiledependingonnetworktypeorapplication.Thisoptionalfeatureeliminatesevent interpretationandprovidesgreateranalysisconfidencetotheuser,regardlessofOTDRskillset.

Analysis ThresholdsUserdefined thresholds for splice loss, connector loss,fiberlengthsandreflectancecanbepresettoassessafiber’scondition.ColorcodingusedintheeventtablewilldisplayeventsexceedingPass/Failthresholdsandalerttechniciansofapotentialproblem.

V-Scout ProfilesV-ScoutProfilesputtheoperatorbackintothedriverseat.UserscannowbuildtheirowncustomV-ScouttestPlanandoptimizeitfortheirspecificprojectusingtheautomatedV-ScoutProfilestestmode.SelectamaximumtestrangeandV-ScoutProfileswilllistavailablepulsewidths.

Thesefiberpropertiesallowdatacenteroperators,especiallythoseprovidingco-locationservices to thefinancial sector, to“calibrate”andoptimizeopticallinkstoensureuniformlatencyamongallcustomers.

Latency MeasurementVeEXOTDRscanbeused tomeasure latency inafiber span.LatencyisthetimeittakesforthesignaltotravelfrompointAtopointB.Withintheopticalfiberitself,latencyisdependentupontherefractiveindexandremainsrelativelyconstantataspecificopticalwavelength.

Accurate Event AnalysisReliableeventdetectionandaccurateanalysis are crucial todocumentfiberlinksproperlyatthetimeofinstallation.Thesebaseline recordsareessential to troubleshooting faultyfibernetworksandreducingsystemdowntimeafterwards.

OTDR ResultsTracesintheTelcordiaSR-4731sorformataresavedinalogicalhierarchyforeasysortingandarchiving.Tracefilescanbepusheddirectly to FiberizerCloud from the testerusingan Internetconnectionsothatworksupervisorshave immediateaccesstotestdatabeingmeasuredonsite.Referencetracefilescanalsobe“pulled”fromFiberizerCloudserverfortroubleshootingandrestorationpurposes.

TheMTTplus-410+OTDR employs specialized techniquesdevelopedfromdecadesofexperiencetolocateandmeasureconnectors,splices,opticalsplitters,andmacro-bend.

Internal Launch FiberNearendfiberanalysisisgreatlyimprovedthankstotheoptionalbuilt-inG.657launchfiber.Excellentdeadzoneperformanceand3cmsamplingresolutionallowstheOTDRtoevaluate lossandreflectanceofthefirstconnectionandshortfiberspanscommoninFTTAapplications.

Visual Fault Locator (VFL)TheoptionalVisual Fault Locator is auseful tool to identifypoorconnections,badfusionsplicesandmacrobendsinfibermanagementclosures.Operatingat650nm,thisvisiblesourceoffersupto5km(3miles)ofrange.

Optical Light Source (OLS)TheOTDRport canoperateas a stable light source for losstesting.TheoutputsupportsWaveIDwhichautomaticallysetsthewavelengthwhenpairedwithcompatibleVeEXopticalpowermeters.Thesourceoutputcanalsobemodulatedforusewithindustrystandardfiberidentifiers.

Optical Power Meter (OPM)

AnoptionalOpticalPowerMeter(OPM)canbefittedtomeasureabsoluteorrelativeopticalpowerlevels.TheOPMincorporatesahighlysensitiveandstableInGaAsdetectorwithsixcalibratedwavelengthsprovidingaccuratelevelmeasurementsfrom+10to-65dBm.AhighpowerversionisavailableforDWDMorCATVapplicationsforlevelsrangingfrom+25to-50dBm.

WaveIDTheOPMemploysWaveID, a uniquewavelengthdetectionsystemcommontomostVeEXopticaltestproducts.TheOPMautomatically recognizesa singleormulti-wavelength signaltransmittedbyanotherVeEXoptical testerconnected to thefarendofthelinkundertest.TheOPMmeasuresthelevelatthecorrespondingwavelengthautomatically,eliminatingsetuperrorsandsavingtesttime.Test ResultsOPMandOLTStestdatacanbesavedtointernalmemoryusingthesamefile-namingconventionappliedtoOTDRtraces.Savedresultscanbeprinteddirectlytopdf,exportedtoaPCforofflinereportgenerationoruploadedtoFiberizerClouddependingonUserdocumentationrequirements.
