Resistance
• In conceptual design we have calculated clear water resistance with ITTC-57 and ice resistance with Lindqvist method
• Now we need to calculate the resistance with couple of other calculation methods (for example Holtrop, ITTC-74, Taylorgertler)
• We need to update the calculations with the specified dimensions of the ship and with the different vessel speed values + present the speed range
• We can identify more resistance components than in conceptual design
Resistance• Resistance calculated in conceptual design
Propulsion
• Propulsion solutions need to completely checked because we probably need to change the amount of pods from what was designed in conceptual design
• The general arrangement has changed while creating the NAPA model of ship
• Recalculation of propeller particulars and cavitation risks
• Checking will we need a different size of propellers than in the conceptual design
Machinery
• The selected genset solution in the earlier phase was the Wärtsila 38 series with 4 engines of two different size
Machinery
• One type of machinery selection made in conceptual design but no comparison with alternative options
• Need to compare different engine set solutions
• Many aspects need to be considered: number of engines, fuel type, energy efficiency, fuel consumption, space reservation
• Energy balance chart needs to be done
• Operational profile of the energy usage needs to be calculated
Schedule and work breakdown
• We will be working under these topics during the next two weeks
• Santeri will be concentrating more on the resistance part
• Propulsion decisions will be discussed and worked together
• Niko will be on machinery part
