Music Video Location Decisions

In order for our music video to look professional, we had to choose the right location for it to portray the genre and the messages to the audience. The music video was shot in an estate close by to the audience and in Russel Square.

We decided to use these estates at Golf Links estates as it was easier for our artist to travel there. Also it seemed like an estate where trouble is caused and where you may expect violent teenagers to be associated with as there were many police notices, warnings and built in CCTV cameras.

This location was used when the bag was collected as it was behind the main flats, which reflected an alleyway. As a result, it made the artist and the co – artist seem suspicious, which is also portrayed through the undercover agents looking down through binoculars and talking on a ‘walkie talkie’.

The artist walks out of the station and is Russel Square to show him making his journey to the top. From being in the estate, he is in a much more pleasant place, but still aspiring to be right at the top.

This is where the music video ends and at this point the undercover agents catch the artist. He’s stopped on a side road, not a main road in order to show that the undercover agents believe that he’s dangerous, making the audience think it too, and is a threat to society. However, the stupidity of the undercover agents is realised when they search his bag, and only find CD’s inside to send the message that not all young people get involved with crime, instead work hard to aspire somewhere.
