Inertia: A body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted on by an

outside force.

• On my dad’s farm the tractor stays at rest until someone starts the engine and drives it around.

Modano shoot the hockey puck. It kept going in a straight line until it slammed into the goal net. That changed its motion to a new direction and then it stopped.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

• In my uncle’s factory, I saw one gear turn one way which caused another gear to turn the other way.

Force = Mass x Acceleration

• We went to the beach to jump in the waves. The big waves hit us hard enough to knock us down. The small waves only made us wiggle a little bit.
