Regarding the signing of the TAR Agreement, what we feel isthat we have technical and financial constraints to upgrade theexisting railway line in conformity with the guiding principlesfor technical character eristic of TAR network.
Actually moving dimensions, axle-load, signaling and operatingconditions are very poor and too far from the specification ofTAR standards.
Though the whole network is necessary to be reconstructed, it isnot within our reach at the moment due to our economicalconstraints.
That is the main reason why we cannot sign theIntergovernmental Agreement for TAR.
Myanma Railways needs sufficient time and large amount offinancial supports to upgrade the whole railway network.
