About the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity created by the Kraft family to support charitable and philanthropic agencies throughout New England. This support comes in the form of direct grants, and the donation of signed memorabilia to a variety of charitable causes, and from Patriots players who offer their direct support by appearing at charity functions throughout the year. Robert Kraft established the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation when he purchased the team in 1994 as a way for the organization to give back to the communities it calls home. The Foundation’s primary goal is to support programs that aid the youth and families of New England while underscoring the Kraft family’s deep commitment to philanthropic activities in the community. Over the past 19 years, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars to thousands of non-profit organizations throughout New England and has partnered with numerous community groups, including the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, the United Way, the Greater Boston Food Bank and a host of other New England charities. The Foundation actively supports nonprofit groups focusing on health, education, youth fitness and community enrichment while also implementing its own programs in those areas of focus. Local Heroes, Inc. was awarded the $25,000 grand prize in honor of Lou Cimaglia, Sr. who founded the nonprofit and continues to lead a team of volunteers who have sent more than 20,000 care packages to military members serving overseas. Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft, New England Patriots Charitable Foundation President Joshua Kraft and Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Tippett announced $100,000 in grants to New England nonprofits at the 2012 Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards luncheon in June 2012 at Gillette Stadium. Patriots players Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Zoltan Mesko and the 2012 Patriots Marathon Team were also on hand to greet and take photos with each winner.

At the Nov. 11 Veterans Day game, the Kraft family, Foundation and 2012 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award Winner Lou Cimaglia, Sr. (right) from Local Heroes, Inc. joined Patriots partner Raytheon and more than 150 military members for a care package event during their pregame hospitality in The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon.

Former Patriots fullback Patrick Pass joined $10,000 second prize winner, Rosa Young during a visit to her nonprofit, the Treehouse Foundation. This multi-generational community in Massachusetts is a place where children experiencing foster care are given a chance to thrive in permanent loving homes and are adopted by caring ‘grandparents,’ such as Rosa.

Former Patriots fullback Harold Shaw and $10,000 second prize winner Phyllis Swerling Kellem visited patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Kraft Family Blood Donor Center. Phyllis has volunteered at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as a patient greeter for an unprecedented 36 years, totaling more than 42,120 volunteer hours.
