A MESSAGE TO PROSPECTIVE SPONSORS

Special Education Advocacy can change the world!

• A significant number of learning disabilities are not properly identified thus special education services are not provided appropriately.

• Despite students being intelligent enough to go to college, those with unidentified learning disabilities drop out of school, barely pass and have lower paying unskilled jobs. A high school dropout earns $260,000 less than a high school graduate and $800,000 less than a college graduate.

• Students with learning disabilities are often segregated unnecessarily from non disabled peers, denying them the opportunity to model and develop appropriate social skills. Segregated classes are often less rigorous academically, and have fewer resources than regular education classes. Segregation denies non-disabled peers the opportunity to learn about, and from, peers with disabilities, perpetuating disability stereotypes.

• Unaddressed learning disabilities lead to behavioral problems that mask the learning disability. (50-78% of juveniles incarcerated have learning disabilities)

• Students with unaddressed learning disabilities often self medicate with alcohol and drugs. (60% of people recovering from addictions have some form of a learning disability)

•A high school dropout’s life expectancy is 9.2 years shorter than a high school graduate’s.

•A one-year increase in average years of schooling for dropouts nationally would reduce: - motor vehicle theft by 20%, - murder and assault rates by almost 30%, - arson by 13%, and - burglary and larceny by about 6%.

•13.6% of ALL students (age 3 to 21) are served under IDEA’s disability categories in schools.

National Special Education Advocacy Institute - NSEAI

NSEAI has been training parents, professional advocates, teachers, administrators, lawyers, community agency staff and related service providers, from across the country, since 2008. We were the first, and are the only, national board certification

program in education advocacy. Each class learns, cooperatively, to appreciate each other’s role in providing a free and appropriate education to children with disabilities. We are the only organization to provide professional training of this caliber.

BCEAs are from across the country, California to Pennsylvania.  NSEAI trainings provide for a collaborative atmosphere with cross training by lawyers, educators, policy makers, advocates and clinicians in all related service fields. Training is focused on the unique requirements needed for parents to advocate for their own children and for educational advocates to improve their skills and meet a national standard of quality within their profession.

The National Special Education Advocacy Institute is launching it’s 2012-2013 training program in just a few months. This nationally recognized program is now being offered for the benefit of leaders in our community and they need your support. This 12 Saturday training is your opportunity to get your brand or business in front of a wide variety of people, and niche marketing at the same time. We have had scores of community and organization leaders at each training session. Our email lists are extensive and our website is visited by thousands each month.
