Learn about early Native American residents, the iron mine established there in the 1700s, and visit the nearby Iron Hill Museum to discover more about the area’s past. RULES AND REGULATIONS: SUMMARY

1. HOURS - All New Castle County parks are open year-round. Hoursof operation are dawn to dusk, except with permission of theDepartment.

2. TEMPORARY CLOSURE - The General Manager has the authorityto temporarily close a museum or the grounds when required byPublic Health, Safety and Welfare.

3. MOTOR VEHICLES - No motor vehicles shall be driven except inareas specifically designated for their use. All motor vehicle laws ofthe State of Delaware must be followed.

4. POSTING - No signs or markers can be put in place, except withwritten permission of the Department. Sales or solicitation are alsogenerally prohibited.

5. ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND GAMBLING - Consumption, possessionor sale of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs is prohibited.Gambling is also prohibited.

6. DAMAGE AND DUMPING - Vandalism of trees, shrubs, plants, turf,rocks, buildings, fences, bridges, signs, stream water quality or anyother natural or man-made asset of the park is prohibited. Nothingmay be dumped in the park.

7. FIRE - No fires shall be kindled.8. SAFETY OF ANIMALS - No one shall trap, snare, shoot, poison,

injure, annoy or disturb any wild animal or bird or damage any nest.9. DISORDERLY CONDUCT - Threatening, abusive, insulting or

indecent language, obscene or indecent actions and fighting areprohibited.

10. WEAPONS - No one shall carry any knife having a blade three (3)inches or longer on the grounds. The possession or discharge of BBguns, air guns, firearms, bows and arrows or any lethal weapon isprohibited.

11. ACTIVITIES - Entertainment, demonstrations or exhibitions areprohibited, except with the approval of the Department.

12. GROUP FUNCTIONS - Permits for group activities should beobtained in advance from the Department.

No matter what the season, visitors are treated to a cornucopia of sight when they enter the woods. Feel free to hike or walk the trails, or just sit down on a rock and enjoy the sounds of the leaves rustling, the birds singing, and the scurry of squirrels as they run up and down the trees. Splendid colors abound and breathtaking views appear at every turn. Be sure to bring along a camera or an artist’s palette to capture any one of the many delights you will discover.

Lively Bark Park

Visitors are encouraged to bring their furry friends to our lively Bark Park. Within two fenced areas, for large and small dogs, you can allow your canines to run free and to socialize with other “like-minded” pets! Throw a ball and have your dog chase it; sit down and make a friend with another pet owner! You are sure to enjoy this fun amenity.

Fun Playground

Children are sure to love the new playgrounds installed at Iron Hill Park. They can run, climb, swing and slide to their heart’s content on the brightly-colored and safe play equipment.

Challenging Disc Golf Course

For those visitors who enjoy an organized sport, a disc golf course with 18 holes has been put into place. Join the fun as you toss and flip your discs while getting a workout covering the expansive layout. This course will challenge your skills and your patience! Two practice pins are set up near the parking lot - so give it a try!

The Delaware Disc Golfers hold events in the park. Refer to their website www.dediscgolf.com for a schedule and volunteer opportunities. A course map with scorecard is also available online.

Convenient Pavilion

Have your next cook-out at the Pavilion at Iron Hill Park! There are grills, trash barrels and tables for your use. Please call the Department of Community Services at (302) 571-4006 to reserve the Pavilion for your group activity. Fee charged for reservation.

Hiking Trails

The packed earth multi-use trails, for pedestrians and mountain bikers, wind around the hill. The trails include varying degrees of difficulty.

The Mason-Dixon Trail, which runs the length of Iron Hill Park, is part of the system that connects the Appalachian Trail with the Brandywine Trail near Chadds Ford, PA.

The Delaware Trail Spinners, a mountain bike club, volunteer with trail maintenance. See their website at www.trailspinners.org for information about their events at the park.

Information on the activities at the Iron Hill Museum can be found at www.ironhillmuseum.org. The volunteer group, Friends of Iron Hill Park, have a website at www.friendsofironhillpark.org.

Challenging Disc Golf Course

For those visitors who enjoy an organized sport, a disc golf course with 18 holes has been put into place. Join the fun as you toss and flip your discs while getting a workout covering the expansive layout. This course will challenge your skills and your patience! Two practice pins are set up near the parking lot - so give it a try!

The Delaware Disc Golfers hold events in the park. Refer to their website www.dediscgolf.com for a schedule and volunteer opportunities. A course map with scorecard is also available online.

Convenient Pavilion

Have your next cook-out at the Pavilion at Iron Hill Park! There are grills, trash barrels and tables for your use. Please call the Department of Community Services at (302) 571-4006 to reserve the Pavilion for your group activity. Fee charged for reservation.

The packed earth multi-use trails, for pedestrians and mountain bikers, wind around the hill. The trails include varying degrees of difficulty.

The Mason-Dixon Trail, which runs the length of Iron Hill Park, is part of the system that connects the Appalachian Trail with the Brandywine Trail near Chadds Ford, PA.

The Delaware Trail Spinners, a mountain bike club, volunteer with trail maintenance. See their website at www.trailspinners.org for information about their events at the park.

Within two fenced areas, for large and small dogs, you can allow your canines to run free and to socialize with other “like-minded” pets! Feel free to hike or walk the trails, or just sit down on a rock and enjoy the sounds of the leaves rustling, the birds singing, and the scurry of squirrels as they run up and down the trees. Splendid colors abound and breathtaking views appear at every turn. Be sure to bring along a camera or an artist’s palette to capture any one of the many delights you will discover.

Lively Bark Park

Visitors are encouraged to bring their furry friends to our lively Bark Park. Within two fenced areas, for large and small dogs, you can allow your canines to run free and to socialize with other “like-minded” pets! Throw a ball and have your dog chase it; sit down and make a friend with another pet owner! You are sure to enjoy this fun amenity.

Children are sure to love the new playgrounds installed at Iron Hill Park. They can run, climb, swing and slide to their heart’s content on the brightly-colored and safe play equipment.

Challenging Disc Golf Course

For those visitors who enjoy an organized sport, a disc golf course with 18 holes has been put into place. Join the fun as you toss and flip your discs while getting a workout covering the expansive layout. This course will challenge your skills and your patience! Two practice pins are set up near the parking lot - so give it a try!

The Delaware Disc Golfers hold events in the park. Refer to their website www.dediscgolf.com for a schedule and volunteer opportunities. A course map with scorecard is also available online.

Convenient Pavilion

Have your next cook-out at the Pavilion at Iron Hill Park! There are grills, trash barrels and tables for your use. Please call the Department of Community Services at (302) 571-4006 to reserve the Pavilion for your group activity. Fee charged for reservation.

The packed earth multi-use trails, for pedestrians and mountain bikers, wind around the hill. The trails include varying degrees of difficulty.

The Mason-Dixon Trail, which runs the length of Iron Hill Park, is part of the system that connects the Appalachian Trail with the Brandywine Trail near Chadds Ford, PA.

The Delaware Trail Spinners, a mountain bike club, volunteer with trail maintenance. See their website at www.trailspinners.org for information about their events at the park.
