Week 1: ADVENTURE
During your first week of NCS you will spend a week away in Croyde Bay North Devon. Each day you will be challenged in different ways undertaking exciting new activities such as:
• SURFING COASTEERINGCLIMBING – HIGH ROPES PADDLE BOARDING LASER TAGARCHERY TAG ULTIMATE ASSAULT COURSE
You’ll face individual challenges but have the support of team mates to help you overcome any fears you may have. No team will make it through this demanding experience without mastering the art of communication and encouraging one another, making lifelong friends along the way.
During the second week you’ll stay at a local center within Hampshire. This week is based closer to your local community. Individuals and their teams will face the initial challenge of staying in accommodation whilst budgeting and catering for themselves – a real taste of independence. During this week your team will undertake a number of different workshops in order to learn new skills that may help with your social action
project. These workshops could be based on the following:
WEEK 2: DISCOVERY
The MediaSports CoachingMusic Production
The Performing ArtsFood Tech & CookeryPersonal Development
WEEK 3: ACTION During week 3 you will plan and fundraise for your social action. Your leaders will be on hand to help, but it is up to the teams themselves to decide what to do, plan how to do it and present the idea to a panel of experts. Once your team’s idea has been given the go ahead, you will be supported to help develop the skills required to execute your social
action project. Example projects include:
Regenerating gardens
Renovating care homes
Supporting a terminally ill child’s wish
Painting and decorating a children’s
home
Creating a charity single or
promotional video
The delivery part of this week for your social action project is when you put your plan into action. Gardening, recording, painting, decorating, building, and much
much more. This is the part where you make a difference.
*4 Week Model*
If you are completing a 4 week model, you will have a full week dedicated to the planning of your social action, followed by a week of delivery.
GRADUATIONOnce the hard part is all over you’ll be invited back to your graduation in November to celebrate your achievements with your fellow graduates. You’ll receive a signed certificate from The Prime Minister and a free memorabilia book full of photos and memories from the summer. It will be a celebration where you will be entertained and have many videos and photos showcasing your NCS experience.
AMBASSADOR SCHEMEThe NCS journey doesn’t stop there.
As an ambassador you will take your NCS experience to the next level. You will get access to THE OPPORTUNITY HUB - a gateway for graduates to access a range of different opportunities.
Ongoing NCS involvement can enhance skills, help you get work and potentially lead to international travel. Best of all it helps you to keep making a difference to your local community.
WHERE AM I STAYING ?During the first week you’ll be staying in Devon. Your second week will take
