Spring greetings from your friends at Camp Burton! We are eagerly preparing for summer camp and want to share

our program information and service opportunities with you.

For the past 3 decades, we have hosted an inspirational week for adults with special needs. Our New Horizons

Camp is open to 40-60 adult campers, who are able to participate in a variety of camp activities such as swimming,

crafts, canoeing, a talent show, games, singing, dancing, and much more. Our campers are all physically able to

navigate our camp site (some with assistance), and attend to their own physical needs (with reminders).

We are looking for volunteers and staff who understand the joys and struggles of working with the “special needs“

population. A week at New Horizons Camp can be exhausting, therefore we need support from folks who have a

variety of the qualities listed below:

Camp Burton is a Christian faith-based camp, though there is no “statement of faith” requirement for New

Horizon’s staff. We do ask that every staff member support and participate in the programmed spiritual elements

of camp, such as morning chapel (songs, skit, Bible story) and meal time prayers. These will be lead by campers and

our program staff. Camp Burton’s goal is to encourage our campers! We want to give them hope, create joyful

experiences and to express our love and thankfulness for who they are.

For safety and to facilitate programming during New Horizons, we need 20-30 ADULTS to commit to this week.

Attached is information on dates and compensation. If you can volunteer, we would greatly appreciate it! The

money we save on staffing will go back into camper scholarships and program supplies. We do understand financial

needs, so please just let us know what will work for your situation. Please feel free to share this information with

friends and co-workers, who you think might be a good fit!

Volunteers needed for the full week. We understand arrival times may vary due to personal schedules.

We are happy to complete any paperwork needed for volunteer hours, community service hours, internships, or

practicum.

Compensation: $200 for the week or a travel ticket up to $240. Pick up from SeaTac Airport, Seattle or Tacoma

bus and train stations.

All food and lodging.

Laundry and supplies available.
