Words can not express the gratitude
for the faithfulness of Pastor Johnny
Henderson, Pastor at Cross Road
Baptist Church. His countless hours
of dedication to his church, church
family, personal family, missions and
to the association here in Randolph County will long be
remembered. Pastor Johnny passed away recently. What
a void there will be in this community. Please keep this
dear family in your prayers as they make this difficult tran-
sition.
If you are interested in sending a memorial in Pastor
Johnny’s name, you can do so to the non-profit Deliver-
ing A Blessing, P.O. Box 2446, Asheboro, NC 27204
How did you answer the question this year, “What do you want for Christmas?” I guess I’ve been asked that question every year since I could talk. As a child I could rattle off the pages of the Sears Roebuck catalog by memory, but as I’ve gotten older it seems that the answer becomes more of a “nothing really, I have everything I need”. So when I ask that question of my family, and that’s the answer I get, I find my-self in that terrible predicament of contemplating over and over what I could get for my boys, daughters-in-law, and most important my grandson that would just be the greatest gift ever. One that would allow me to be the number #1 Pop-py and father on planet Earth. Slowly and sadly I am realizing that once again this year I probably won’t attain that status.
That’s why as I sit and ponder the holiday season, which is upon us, I admit to once again being awestruck at the amaz-ing gift we were given by our all-knowing Father. Our Heav-enly Father, knowing us better even than we know our-selves, gave us a gift we most likely would not have chosen given the opportunity to pick from all that the Father could provide. Health, wealth, power or prominence, happy fami-lies and needs being met would have more than likely taken top tier. Yet, Father God knowing best what we needed, sent his son, born of a virgin to be our Savior, the Savior of the world!
A gift I hope we won’t miss enjoying this year. Busy, busy, busy…our calendars are full, and our bank accounts are emp-ty. We are going and doing at a frantic pace. That seems to be the norm for December, and we can hardly wait for the new year to roll around so life can get back to “normal”. The message from the angels the night the Christ child was born was far from normal, “Fear not: for, behold I bring good tid-ings of great joy, which shall be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” The hope the Christ child brings, as our Savior, our sins are forgiven, our place in Heaven secured, the Holy Spir-it to lead and guide us, all came wrapped in Mary’s little bun-dle of joy.
May we not miss the great joy of this wonderful gift for our-selves and let us take every opportunity to share the great-est gift ever given this Christmas season. Who knows, maybe you just might to responsible for sharing the greatest gift someone receives this year?

A message from the Credentials Committee…. The Credentials Committee met recently to discuss the role of said committee and to establish a strategic plan moving forward. As part of that meeting, it was decided that a reminder of the expectations of “cooperating churches” of the Randolph Baptist Association would be beneficial. These expectations are stated as follows in the RBA Constitution:
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. The Association shall be comprised of coop-erating churches within the area of the Association. A cooperating church shall be defined as one which annual-ly:
1. Contributes to the financial programs of the association. (SBC recommends at least 3% of un-designated gifts.)
2. Returns the annual report to the association.
3. Elect members who attend at least one of the quarterly meetings.
The Credentials Committee requests that pastors and leadership of all churches of the RBA review these expec-tations and consider what changes, if any, your church may need to consider. Thank you for your consideration and feel free to contact Mr. Jerry Atwood, Credentials Committee Chairman, should you have any questions.
A huge Thank You to the NC Baptist Foundation for awarding RBA with a Special Projects Grant of $1,000. This money will help with the upkeep and supplies of the Ministry Trailers that so many of our churches enjoy using throughout the year. Thanks so much!!
