Holy Days
7:00 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Sacrament of Baptism
We are pleased to help your family prepare for the special event of your child’s entrance into our faith community. Please contact the parish office at least two months prior to your preferred Baptism date to schedule a preparation class. We encourage attendance at this class well before the baby’s birth. The class is usually offered the last Monday evening of each month. Baptisms are scheduled Sundays at 1:00 p.m.
Sacrament of Reconciliation RESERVATION REQUIRED Saturday from 4:00pm—4:30pm or by appointment.
Sacraments of Initiation Adults interested in receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation) may call the Director of our RCIA program, Deacon Tim Leonard.
Sacrament of Marriage Please contact the parish office at least six months prior to your wedding to set a date and to begin your marriage preparation and required paper work.
Home or Hospital Visitation (Temporarily Suspended) Anyone who cannot attend Mass because of age or illness, and would like to receive the Eucharist at home, should call the parish office to arrange a visit. Likewise, if you are being admitted to the hospital, and would like a visit, please call. Due to confidentiality reasons, hospitals no longer call the parish to inform us when parishioners are admitted.
We are all well aware that the word Gospel literally means Good News, and this could not be more true than of the Gospel passage we have set before us today. In it Jesus turns upside down all the preconceived notions of His listeners.
The inner secrets of the Kingdom of God are not revealed to the so-called learned and wise, but to mere children. It is the poor, the lowly the meek of heart to whom these special insights have been revealed. It is the widow with her mite, the sinner in the back row, the
blind man at the pool; it is these poor and apparently hopeless people who are going about things the right way. It is these who will enter the Kingdom. This is indeed Good News.
Then Jesus makes the most extraordinary appeal, one so heart-felt that it echoes down the centuries and churns up our hearts even today, “Come to me all you who are overburdened and I will give you rest.” Jesus opens wide His arms to the poor, the meek and the lowly through all generations and draws them to Himself. He has come not to open the door for the privileged and the learned. No, He has come to open the door for the overburdened, the broken-hearted, the deprived and all those who suffer. In Him they will find consolation and rest, for as He says, His yoke is easy and His burden light.
Gentleness and humility are the qualities which Jesus places above all others. These are the attitudes Jesus looks for in us. A gentle person looks at the world with compassion and love. It means that they are unselfish and open to others. It is a beautiful quality which we instinctively admire when we recognize it in others.
And what about humility? The English word humility comes from the Latin word humus meaning earth. The word therefore means being close to the earth or, to put it better, being true to what we are. And I think that is the clue—being true to what we are. If we can get into our heads a true understanding of who and what we are, then our way through life and how to conduct ourselves becomes clear. It’s the basic principles that matter. Humility is being in right-relationship with all that is around us: with God, with our fellow human beings and, indeed, also with the Earth.
When it comes to the things of heaven we are all simpletons. When it comes to the spiritual life we are all children. It is only in following the example of Christ Himself that we will arrive in heaven safely. It is the way of gentleness, the way of humility, the way of service, the way of sacrifice, the way of love. Jesus has gone that way before us and all we need is the desire to follow Him.
I wish you an enjoyable weekend and a truly blest and faith-filled week.

PRINCE OF PEACE REOPENING PLAN - PHASE II
We thank everyone for their patience as we move into our third week of Masses and activities. Please note changes below in our schedule.

Weekday Mass July 6 – July 10 at 8:00am - WITH RESERVATION SYSTEM
Reconciliation for the month of July will be by appointment
Please call the parish office & leave a message OR email Fr. Gerald [email protected] or Fr. John jhetland@princeofpeacecatholicchurch directly to make an appointment.
The Cardinal recognizes that many parishioners are concerned about their health, and may be reluctant
to gather for Mass, so, the dispensation from attending Mass is still in effect. Since parishioners are still dispensed from coming to Mass, we will continue to record the Sunday Mass and have it available on our website.
We need to clean the church between Masses, so, we ask that parishioners exit the church building, to the parking lot, immediately after Mass so that this can be done.
We are using an online reservation system to monitor the number of individuals we can safely have in the church and maintain safe social distancing. If you are unable to access the reservation site by computer or cell phone, you can call the parish office and we will manually enter you into a time slot.
This sign up will be used for Adoration/Prayer and Masses. We are asking everyone to use the reservation system which is available from the front page of our website (www.princeofpeacelv.org).
If individuals come without a reservation it may be necessary to turn parishioners away if the church gets too full. I ask that you please understand the situation and please do not be offended if this happens. Again, I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we reopen our doors.
Thank you for your cooperation as we have opened our church with these new protocols. It has been wonderful to see everyone again. We look forward to when all of us can join together around the Lord’s table. Father Gerald, your parish staff and volunteer team

“Lord Jesus, Who in the Eucharist make your dwelling among us and become our traveling companion, sustain our Christian communities so that they may be ever more open to listening and accepting your Word. May they draw from the Eucharist a renewed commitment to spreading in society, by the proclamation of your Gospel, the signs and deeds of an attentive and active charity,” ~ Pope John Paull II

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:30)
When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our time, talent and treasure. However, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small portion, in gratitude, of what He has already given to us.
Have liked the convenience of giving electronically over the past few months? Please consider signing up to do this on a regular basis. You can sign up for a regular giving schedule through Give Central, or fill out an “Electronic Giving” form and return it to the church.
There is a “Donate Now” button on our parish website that you can use for your Sunday donations (this connects you to GiveCentral.org). You can also sign up for continued Electronic Giving for your Sunday Stewardship contributions, either by direct debit from your bank account or credit card, on a monthly or weekly basis. A form is available on the next page.
After signing up, never worry about forgetting your envelope again! It continues your support to Prince of Peace when you are out of town, on vacation or unable to attend Mass.
Parishioners who donate electronically to the Sunday collection receive a quarterly envelope packet, which contains envelopes for any special collections (i.e. Sharing Parish, St. Vincent de Paul & Archdiocesan collections) rather than the full monthly packet you receive now. Providing you with this quarterly packet results in a savings to the parish.
If you have any questions, please call the parish office (847-356-7915) or email our Business Manager, Barb Ruhl, at [email protected]. Thank you!
Collection totals for the weekend of June 27-28 were unavailable at time of bulletin transmission.

ELECTRONIC GIVING FORM
Our Electronic Giving program assures a continuation of your support even when you are not here. We encourage all of our parishioners to seriously consider utilizing this program. Most of us find that we attend Mass at parishes other than Prince of Peace during the year, related to vacations, family events, etc. We have received positive comments from parishioners who already utilize this program such as, “this makes it so much easier” and “I have peace of mind knowing that when I am out of town my obligations have been met.”
Direct debits and credit cards can be processed dependent on your preference. Please see below for options. If you require a different schedule please call Barb Ruhl, in the parish office.
I (we) hereby authorize Prince of Peace Church, to initiate debits to my (our) account as indicated below. I (we) authorize the financial institution below, to credit the amount of such entries to my (our) account. This authority is to remain in full force and effect until I (we) revoke the agreement. Any revocation is effective only after Prince of Peace Church has received notification from me (us) to terminate this agreement in such time and manner as to afford a reasonable opportunity to act upon the notice.

A Prayer for Vocations:
Heavenly Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His vineyard.
We earnestly beg You to bless our Archdiocese and our world with many priests and religious men and women
who will love You fervently, and gladly and courageously spend their lives in service to Your Son’s Church under
the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We pray that their lives may be always centered on our Eucharistic Lord; that
they be always faithful to the Holy Father; and that they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary, our
Mother, in making You known and loved; and that all may attain Heaven. Bless our families and our children and
choose from our homes those whom You desire for this holy work. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please inform the parish office of any additions to your family, changes in member status or address changes. All Catholic adults, 18 years old and no longer in school, who live within the parish area should register in their own name. Active and supporting membership includes offering one’s time, talent and treasure to assist in promoting the Gospel and the mission of Prince of Peace Parish. Please help us maintain our parish records by registering or
advising us of changes as soon as possible. Welcome to Prince of Peace! We are glad you are here!
Prince of Peace staff and the Communications Ministry frequently videotape or photograph participants enjoying programs, Masses and other events at our facility.
