aggressive transport plan with a

regional vision



To accomplish this goal,

AMT has been provided

with legal authority

and autonomous funding

and operating costs

SUSTAINABLE FUNDING

CHALLENGE

▸ Provide long-term sufficiency, stability, predictability and equity in public transportation funding

▸ OPERATION : Manage urban transport demand by balancing the use of automobile and public transport

▸ INVESTMENT : Secure funding for new service improvement and development

Major investment are needed for actual services (metro, rail, …) : 84 M $ / year

NEW LEGISLATION TO COME

▸ Maintain gas and car ownership tax revenue dedicated to metropolitan services and facilities funding

▸ New : implement an additional 1,5 ¢ / l gas tax (50 M$ / year)

▸ Adjusment : share residual deficit of metropolitan services (metro, rail, buses) between municipalities according to passenger place of residence

▸ Actual work : revision of the actual metropolitan development fund
