Student Transcript
Service (STS)
At this time, 159 Grade 12s have indicated their permission to the Ministry of Education to release their transcripts to specific Post-Secondary Institutions they have applied to; 198 Grade 12s have not. All students pursuing studies in September 2018 must have completed this before May 1st, 2018.
To access the service, students go to the Ministry of Education’s transcripts and certificates website: StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Deadlines for
Distributed Learning
Course Completion Students who are taking a course through Distributed Learning (e.g. on-line, at night school) need to check the deadline for completion of DL courses at the institution they have applied to for September. Here are a few examples:
April 30 – SFU – 100% completed
May 1 – UVIC – 100% completed
May 1 – KPU – deadline to submit interim grades for night school courses

Mandatory self-reporting opens February 15
All current grade 12 students who have applied to UVIC must self-report their grades between February 15 and March 31, 2018 www.uvic.ca/self-reporting. The link for students to self-report will be available on the application portal beginning February 15, 2018.
Note: You can only self-report once so the majority of WGSS students applying to UVIC wait for their second term marks.

Current high school students can update their high school courses and marks as they become available
Once submitted, their application will be re-evaluated
Note: Students who have already received admission are not required to submit updates

TWU’s early application deadline is coming up on February 28th
TWU will accept applications after February 28th but by applying before the end of February students will have the opportunity to be considered for the first round of Financial Aid (due March 15th) and will be able to register early for classes

Stacey Levitt Memorial Award
$2,500
The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of Stacey’s life. On August 30, 1995, Stacey was struck and killed by a car while jogging in North Toronto. She was 18 years old.
Stacey loved life and this award is awarded annually to Canadian youth who embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals, and Parachute’s overarching goal of a long life lived to the fullest, while maintaining an approach that is rooted in risk management and injury prevention.
A letter of recommendation and short essay are required.

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Ordinarily reside in British Columbia enrolled as a full-time Grade 12 student
Have completed a Mandarin Chinese Grade 11 course in BC with a minimum course grade of 86 % – course completion attained through challenge, equivalency or other course credit is not eligible
Be enrolled in or have completed a Mandarin Chinese language course at the Grade 12 level
Have attained a letter grade of B or higher (i.e., 73% and above) in all completed Grade 11 courses

RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship
$10,000 (x 8) All applicants must be Canadian Citizens
or Permanent Residents with a minimum 75% average in their last year of study.

BC Soccer Scholarship
BC Soccer is proud to award scholarships every year to players and referees proceeding on to post-secondary education. The Scholarships are presented at a special Scholarship Celebration at a Whitecaps FC match in June/July each year. Applications must be signed off by your Youth District Soccer Association Chairperson or Adult League President
The completed application can either be forwarded to BC Soccer by the Youth District/Adult League or the individual who is applying for the scholarship application

Global Stewardship Program Information Evening (Cap U)

Students who enter the Global Stewardship Program have diverse career goals: international development, (NGOs and IGOs), journalism, teaching, community development, politics, business and nursing, among others. But what they all share is a desire to make a difference in their world.
If you have the passion, compassion and commitment to change your world through a life in international development, or are looking to gain the knowledge and networks to succeed as a journalist, teacher, community developer, or nurse, the Global Stewardship Program may be just the education you've been looking for.
Each fall, 35 students enter the Global Stewardship Program, and study together for two years in courses focusing on international issues and management training from both the Arts and Sciences and Business divisions of Capilano University. Additional seminars are delivered by leaders in the NGO, social enterprise and voluntary sectors, introducing students to the hands-on skills and behind-the-scenes realities of working to effectively make a difference in our local and global community. To help transition from secondary school to post-secondary education, your transcripts can be sent to various universities, colleges and institutes through the BC Ministry of Education’s automated service. All students need to complete the Student Transcript Service (STS) before May 1st in order to have their transcript
automatically sent to their selected BC public institutions. In July, final transcripts will be issued according to the
selections you have chosen before May 1st (including sent to institutions outside of Canada, the NCAA
