November: Gratitude
This month we are focusing on Gratitude for
this month’s moral focus. We have talked to
the students about things that they are gratefulfor and how to appreciate what we have in our
lives, not to take items or people for granite.
Students are making a gratitude jar over the
course of the month to list things they
appreciate in life and are happy for.
This past week students have continued
working on their narrative fictional writing
piece. The classes have been vigorously
working on their first rough draft. Once
drafts are complete students will be
conferencing with the teacher to determinewhat changes need to be made to create a
successful paper. Students may be at
different stages until the final copy is turned
in.
In book clubs, students read chapter one
and two in ‘The Hunger Games’. While
reading students were taking notes on key
plots, characters and settings of the story.
Groups also answered questions about each
chapter and looked up their Hunger Gamesvocabulary words to determine which
definition was used in the book specifically.
The classes shared their “Utopian World”
towards the end of the week. Next week
students will be quizzed on the first twochapters and continue reading with
chapters three and four.
