VOLUNTEERING–OPENSPACE

DataVolunteersNeededCivic Exchange is looking to recruit 18 volunteers tohelp on research about public open spaces, like parks,playgrounds, sports grounds and the harbourfront. Theexercise will involve three to four hours of recordingthe geo-coordinates of people’s favourite open spacesusing Google Maps and Excel. PlanningforVibrantStreetsCivic Exchange will be publishing a new report thatinves�gates Government policies and prac�ces on howto best manage streets and pedestrian zones. As one ofthe world's most densely populated ci�es, and where90% of the popula�on use walking as part of their dailycommute, Hong Kong has par�cularly crowdedpavements. This study will look at how to best plan forand manage vibrant street life. Updates will be postedsoon about a launch event on 11April.

and open space was quoted in a report �tled "UrbanDesign and Mental Health in Hong Kong: A City CaseStudy", published by Layla McCay and Larissa Lai in theJournal of Urban Design and Mental Health. The tworeport authors had interviewed Civic Exchange expertsto inform their findings on how infrastructure canimpact public health.
