South Simcoe 4-H is

Wrapping Up!

As the middle of October approaches,

so does the end of another 4-H season.

What a beautiful month of September

that we had for all of the fall fairs. We

started on August 28th

at the Barrie Fair.

Barb Kell-Rose and Kelly Young

organized a wonderful 100th

Anniversary event with those from

Simcoe North. Special thanks to all of

them for all of their hard work.

The Beeton Fall Fair was a great day as

well and the rain even held off to almost

the end of the 4-H events.

Finally, the GNE at the Collingwood

Fairgrounds had the hottest day of all

for their achievement day.

Congratulations to all of the members

for all of their success and hard work. A

huge thank you goes out to all of the

leaders, volunteers and parents for

making it all happen. There would not

be 4-H without you!

We hope to see all of you at your

respective award banquets.

4-H Ontario offers many camps and

conferences for its 4-H Members. The

ages vary, but there is definitely

something for everyone.

If you attend an opportunity such as

Discovery Days or Provincial

Leadership Camp, you only have to

have to pay 50% of the registration fee.

In order to be reimbursed for the

additional 50%, you simply submit a

report about your time away to Carla

Williams and the Association will

reimburse you for half. Many of our

members have attended these

opportunities and they have nothing but

great things to say about them. Please

refer to Pages 20 – 28 in your

Leadership in Action 2015 4-H Ontario

THANK YOU FROM

SHELDON CREEK DAIRY

On behalf of Sheldon Creek Dairy and the den Haan family, we would like to personally thank all the fantastic volunteers who came out to help at The Annual Day on the Farm program! The day ran so smoothly with the knowledgeable 4-Hers in the barn, to the kids activities and parking! It truly showcases how multitalented and resourceful 4-H members are. The day could not have been a success without the help of the many volunteers from 4-H who donated their time. On behalf of Sheldon Creek Dairy and the Day on the Farm program, we would like to make a donation to South Simcoe 4-H in the amount of $1,000 ($300 to the Association and $700 to the 2015 Exchange). We are so thankful for such a great service club working within our communities for the betterment. Keep up the great work! The den Haan family, the team at Sheldon Creek and Haanview Farms

Those who can, do.

Those who can do

more, volunteer.

Huge Thank You to Alliston Feed Service (1995) Ltd.

On September 12th, Alliston Feed Service celebrated their 20th Anniversary by hosting an open house at their mill in Alliston. They generously held a pie auction and donated all of the proceeds to the South Simcoe 4-H Association! There were 60 pies donated from the community and between the auction and other donations, they will be presenting us with a cheque for $2,009.00!!! Watch the Farm View in the coming weeks for cheque

presentation. Thank you so much Peter & Shelia Dockerty!

portion of The Legacy of Agriculture mural.

The mural was unveiled at Alliston Feed Service on

by the South Simcoe Arts Council.

4-H member Kristin Gardner was also part of this

project and lent her artistic skills to the mural for

many hours during the summer. Photo credit Alliston
