Your tour will begin with a sparkling wine reception followed by a short varietal video presentation in our newly remodeled Estate Room. The World of Parker

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are in the rear-view mirror and

that 2017 is in the books. I for one am very okay with ushering in 2018. Not to dwell on the negative, but this past year seemed to bring with it more than its fair share of challenges, including the horrific wildfires that caused so much devastation in northern and southern California. It was overwhelming at times, but out of that turmoil our team and family did its best to continue to be creative and productive. The best wines come from vines that endure stress, right? I often think about how my parents, Fess and Marcy, lived through the Great Depression and WWII and went on to build great careers and an enduring legacy of hospitality. Eli and I must have inherited their optimistic nature, because this past year we opened The Bear and Star

restaurant, and under Tim’s leadership we renovated our VIP Barrel Room and

launched the Addendum Cabernet project. Fortunately, all of those projects have been

well received and garnered very positive reviews. We certainly couldn’t have done it without the amazing team that we are so blessed and grateful to have. They are the engine that makes it happen every day!

So how about we make 2018 a better year? Let’s make a point of being kinder and spend more of our time on the important things like spending time with family and friends. We hope you will visit soon. Happy New Year!

Wow, I can’t say it feels a lot like

winter with 80 degree days and fire ravaging our state! The Thomas Fire is currently burning in southern Santa Barbara County but the smoke and ash is all around. We are all hoping this fire is put out quickly and there are no more lives lost! We greatly thank all of the first responders for all they are doing, and hopefully they will be home with their families soon.

As I look back on the 2017 vintage, it reminds me of a rollercoaster ride, with record breaking heat around Labor Day, then a brief tropical storm that dropped an inch of rain

in a couple of hours and then ups and downs with cooling trends and heat-spikes! All of that being said, we got through it and made some lovely wines. The Pinot Noir retained its acidity and made some very pretty, well balanced wines, while the Syrah and other Rhône varieties produced dark, rich and weighty red wines. Our Chardonnay was picked at lower sugars with fresh, bright flavors, and the other white wines also retained the beautiful natural acidity of the vintage. Overall, I feel it was a very good vintage and am looking forward to the development of these wines.

I hope you have an amazing holiday season with family, friends and of course … wine! As always, it is a pleasure making wine for your enjoyment.
