A customizable and extensible set of frameworks to provide automated onboarding and interoperability evaluation capabilities for NFV

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS FOR NFV ONBOARDING & INTEROPERABILITY

POSITIONING OF HCL’S FRAMEWORKS

• Primary Challenge in NFV deployment today is to establish pre-deployment validation methodologies for carrying out Compatibility and interoperability check for VNFs in particular NFV Infrastructure

• Test scenarios shall assess various combinations of VNF & NFVI Conguration, Data plane, Control plane and Management plane functionalities, calibrating against dierent types of demand raised from the network based on trac conditions, subscriber usage, failover scenarios, live migrations, reliability, SLAs and Service Quality Requirements

• An Automation Framework shall assist carrying out the Tests on important pre-deployment aspects with lesser operational overhead, Acceleration and Better Time To Market; and can provide test metrics with cost, protability and quality indicators for actual deployment

• The ‘Agility’ for new services roll out & assurance can’t be fullled without a robust Network DevOps methodology for underlay & overlay NFV Infrastructure

• DevOps methods need to lead tighter integration of IT Operations for Virtualized Services – need of the hour to operationalize NFV deployment

Administrative Monitoring

• Ability for Partners / Alliance to request onboarding of VNFs onto hosted Infrastructure & Ecosystem

• Submitting VNF installation image, Templates & declared capabilities

• Automated Installation / upgrade, and Bootstrap configuration of NFV Infrastructure Test Bed as per designed topology

• Automated Installation and Bootstrap configuration of VNFs over installed NFVI

• Automated Integrated with NFV Orchestrator, and VNFM if requires 3rd party solution

• Automated Assessment of VNF’s compatibility over NFV Infrastructure, Service Chain Compatibility and Interoperability Assessment

• Dashboard for real-time and offline analysis of state of entire underlay and overlay Infrastructure

• Release Management for different versions of NFV Infrastructure Nodes and VNFs, supporting continuous integration, continuous deployment and compatible releases

• Automated Assessment of VNF’s performance over NFV Infrastructure, benchmarking of individual VNF performance and complete Service Chain Performance
