St. Therese believed that God can be found in the small things and tasks of life. Thérèse, like so many saints, sought to serve others, to do something outside herself, to forget herself in quiet acts of love. She is one of the great examples of the gospel paradox that we gain our life by losing it, and that the seed that falls to the ground must die in order to live (John 12:24). ______________________________________________________________ God put us in the world to know, to love, and to serve him, and so to come to paradise. Beatitude makes us "partakers of the divine nature" and to eternal life. With Beatitude, man enters into the glory of Christ and into the joy of the Trinitarian life. Such beatitude surpasses the understanding and powers of man. It comes from an entirely free gift from God: whence it is called supernatural, as is the grace that disposes man to enter into the divine joy. On Thursday the 1st. of October we celebrate the Feast day of one of the most loved Saints and Doctors' of the Church, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, more popularly known as Therese of Lisieux, (the Little Flower). St. Therese believed that God can be found in the small things and tasks of life. Thérèse, like so many saints, sought to serve others, to do something outside herself, to forget herself in quiet acts of

love. She is one of the great examples of the gospel paradox that we gain our life by losing it, and that the seed that falls to the ground must die in order to live (John 12:24). ______________________________________________________________

God put us in the world to know, to love, and to serve him, and so to come to paradise. (1721/1722)

PRAYER GROUP - The prayer will take the basic format of Evening Prayer of the Church with the opportunity to extend the various elements of the Prayer (Praise and adoration, listening to Scripture readings and Intercession for our various needs).

The Sick and their CarersPlease pray for Father Andrew, Pat & Maureen Burke, Bridie Symmons, Ada Russell, Winifred Jones, Charlotte Smith, Kath Ford, Ursula Cope, Patricia Carter, Christina Chetwynd, Olive Fortune, Victor John Zeslawski, Bridie Hoban and Father Paul. Please remember our housebound parishioners in your prayers: Marion Burrows and Marie Aherne .

This weeks liturgical calendar in Church sees us celebrate two feasts regarding Angels!Wednesday's Feast of the Archangels Reminds us that their role is to act as Almighty Gods messengers; especially so the archangels who play pivotal parts in the playing out of our Salvation. Archangel Michael ( meaning "who is like God") is venerated as a leader of the heavenly army of hosts. He fought Satan & won victory in the revolt of those rebellious spirits.

Archangel Gabriel (meaning "strength of God") had the crucial task of announcing the birth of St John the Baptist (to Zechariah) & of Jesus Christ (to our Blessed Lady). St Raphael's name means "God heals". He cared for Tobias in his journey & is patron saint of the blind. This Fridays memorial is dedicated to our own unique Guardian Angels. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us "from infancy to death human life is surrounded by their watchful care & intercession". St Basil reassures us that "Beside each believer stands an angel as protector & shepherd leading him to life". We should pray to these

spiritual servants of God, asking them in turn to pray to the Lord for us & protect us from all harm! Fr. Peter
