LUFKIN UNITS~~ IN THE LAND OF MANANA

Generally speaking, very little oil has ever been pumped in Mexico. It is the experience of most operators that when a well stops flowing, the salt water comes in and the well is usually abandoned.

The "EI Aguila" however, have found it to their advantage to ins tali pumping equipment in one of three field s south of Puerto, Mexico, known as the Francita field.

This is the first equipment Mexico.

In the Francita field our 5%" "Universal" pumping unit with Gulf Coast (I 0 0 s e d rum) production hoists are used.

Quite a number of wells in this field are served by a narrow guage railroad with a tlat car having hoists m 0 u n t e d thereon, which is switched to the different wells for pulling, cleaning, and etc. Only such wells that are inaccessable are provided with individual hoists.

It is common practice to set in Lufkin Units and Hoists-especially while drilling with rotary, to use same as auxiliary power, the deadline going to the hoist direct to the traveling blocks to lift pipe in an emergency in case of breakdown to rotary hoist, also to finally "drill in" with cable tools with the arrangement shown.

Lufkin Equipment is fast meeting the needs of the operators in all /ields and we are prepared to furnish equipment that will suit any condition that may arise.

When you are talking, the other man is not listening. He is thinking what to say when you stop.

Greater Champagnolle Area Uses Many Lufkin Units Standardization of Lufkin Equipment Common With Most Producers In This Arkansas Field

Champagnolle has been the topic of discussion for the past sixty days and its continued production has inspired a feeling of greater confidence in the new Arkansas P ool. And to ' the time of going to press, notwithstanding the numerous dry holes made, over one hundred tests are under way. Salt water has lost its virtue a;5 a deterent in Champagnolle and with the operators encouraged by advances from the El Dorado and Shreveport refineries, drilling is going ahead with all speed.

Lufkin ' Units and Auxiliary equipment has been used by t he larger pro-ducers since the opening day. Among the users in this field are the Magna Pro:iucing Co., Oil Well Corp., Ohio Oil Co., Rovenger Oil Co., Lion Oil & Refining Co., E. Murdock Co., Simms Oil Co., T. G. The Garden Spot of the Middle West

Many tourists from all over the world find a haven of rest in the many parks in Colorado, chief of which is Estes Park. Scenes herewith are in or near Co~orado Springs. Long's Peak, Estes Park, at the top.

We have been urging, through

our columns, in our humble way, for all to take their

vacation in their car. Every gallon of gasoline used is

a help to the industry in the· reduction of surplu s

oil. It has been estimated that an increase of 20 per

cent per person of fuel oil consumption would within

six months, relieve the situation in the oil indus try. And in addition your car will afford comfort and

pleasure surpassing all other means of travel.

Scenery rivaling, if not surpa3sing the wonders

of the Old World, are to be found right here in America.

And with the goo:} roads to be found mas : everywhere,

with tourist parks having the conveniences of modern

hotels, a most inexpensive and enjoyable vacation can

be had to suit the pocket books of the humblest.

"See America First" was a perfectly good s~ogan .

Deepest Oil Producer To Be Drilled Deeper

Austin.-Drilling will be resumed soon at the deepest oil well in the world.

It is on land owned by the University of Texas in the Big Lake oil field, Reagan County in West Texas. After the drill bit had penetrated to a depth of 8,220 feet, operations were halted a few months ago when the derrick was damaged by fire.

Oil was found at the 3,000 and 6,000 foot levels.

Because of the great depth, temperature measurements are of scientific interest to the university's bureau of economic geology, which plans to make further te3ts as the exploration of the earth's interior is resumed. There has been no evidence yet of formations earlier than those of the Permian age.

MIXING OF OIL AND WATER COST PETROLEUM PRODUCERS

$100,000,000

Chicago.-Oil and water do mix, and they mix so thoroughly they cost American petroleum producers more than $100,000,-000, Dr. Gustav Egloff, Chicago chemist, told the American Chemical Society Institute at Northwestern University.

"Nature every year burdens the oil industry with more than 200,000,000 barrels of intimately mixed oil and water as emulsified crude oil," declared Doctor Egloff. "Such oil does not separate even after years of storage.

"At the present time there are more than 100,000,000 barrels of emulsified crude oil in storage tanks. More than $100,-000,000 is tied up in stored emulsified oil, for whose utilization no really economical method has been evolved."

Lufkin Units In the Land Of Manana

(Continued From . Page One)

In a country so far removed from accessible equipment stocks, this company will realize the advantage of Lufkin Units, in that the cost is very little more, if any, over standard rigs, with practically no repairs or replacements required for years. Low operating costs are maintained in-as-much as they require very little attention. The fire hazard is entirely removed and in the event wells play out the equipment can be readily moved to a new location, realizing 100 per cent salvage value, less concrete foundations.

Lufkin Units are becoming known throughout the world as the only geared pumping equipment that is especially built for oil well service, which includes a complete machine; in which the balancing of the well is efficiently accomplished and with practical hoisting equipment that can always be depended upon for this severe service.
