Nordic ID provides data capture APPLICATIONS for professional use.

We are a respected and well known supplier of barcode and RFID

mobile computers and fixed RFID readers. Our success is based on

our excellent services and the products’ usability.

25 years ago the R&D Teamleader for Mobira (Nokia) Talkman followed

his entrepreneurial aspirations and as a result Nordic ID was born.

A retailer was losing money as he was unable to trace his roller

cages and crates. The innovator in our CEO jumped to the rescue.

And since 1995 more than 150 000 people benefit from the data

captured with the Nordic ID mobile equipment on a daily basis. Every

Monday between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM GMT approximately 1

billion transactions are made with Nordic ID devices.

The Nordic products have impressed the top 250 retailers in Europe.

The average turnover of a Nordic ID retail customer is MEUR 20.

Our passion for wireless technology drove us to start with RFID

development as early as the year 2000. Since 2006 Nordic ID has

equipped 70% of all European Apparel RFID pilots and roll-outs.

The House of RFID offers a full range of RFID solutions.

NIDA PLATFORM

“Retail processes made easy”

NIDA is the ideal application platform for Nordic ID Medea, Nordic ID Merlin and Nordic ID Morphic RFID mobile computers. The Nordic ID application platform contains pre-made, configurable mobile computer applications built for the most commonly used retail business processes. The applications work against a local database in the mobile computer, the integrator partner creates a data exchange link using the predetermined Nordic ID SOAP API between the local database and the backend system.

The NIDA platform applications are highly customizable. Each of them can be configured via the local database to perfectly fit each particular use case. UI visuals can be customized to match the end customer’s company look; by showing customer logo on the device’s display and adjusting the color scheme in the UI.

The Multilanguage functionality enables easy switching from one language to another in the UI and thus makes it an excellent feature for e.g. multinational end customers.

INVENTORY

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION SCREENSHOTS

“Counting hundreds in seconds”

The RFID-based “Inventory” application allows taking stock of the store inventory with superior speed and increased accuracy.

The “Inventory” application allows completing a full store count in the fraction of the time a barcode system would, the time spent taking inventory is no longer an issue. With the help of RFID, the store staff is able to perform scans more frequently, even on a daily basis. More frequent scans ultimately lead to improved accuracy and more up-to-date information on the store inventory.

The “Inventory” application is an easy-to-use application that is suitable for several retail inventory processes. It can work in conditions where an expect list of existing tags is available from the backend system. In cases where expect lists are not in use, a custom tag interpreter module is incorporated into the application for extracting the SKU information from a tag.

When location information is available, the scan can be restricted to cover just a certain physical area. Then only the items that are expected to be there, are taken into account. Optionally, information on unexpected items or totally foreign tags found during the scan can be produced for business logic operations in the backend system.

LOCATE

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION SCREENSHOTS

“Locate lost items in a few

seconds”

The “Locate” application allows the store staff to search for items in a store environment with a Nordic ID mobile computer.

By measuring the signal strength received from a particular tag, the application guides the user into close proximity of the tag and the item that the tag is attached to, much like a metal detector.

The “Locate” application is a true time saver for the store staff and allows them to improve their efficiency significantly. In customer service situations this means responding quicker to customers’ demands and improving their shopping experience.

The “Locate” application is very easy to use. Simply read the barcode or RFID tag of a similar product and choose the parameter of the item you wish to find. E.g. scan a T-shirt and tell the application to find a similar item, but in colour blue and in size L. The application will show how many of those items are available in the store and start the guiding procedure with a graphical signal meter on the display.

ASSOCIATE

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION SCREENSHOTS

“Connecting barcodes to RFID tags”

The “Associate application” is a tool for creating RFID tags for your items.

The “Associate application” is used for reading a barcode on your item and converting it into an EPC code. The code is then written into an RFID tag attached to the item. Now your uniquely identifiable item can be tracked throughout the rest of the product’s life cycle and benefit from all the advantages that RFID can offer.

The “Associate application” is a great tool to be used at the point of manufacturing or packing where labeling items takes place. Another typical area of usage would be during retagging of items. The application enables fast and easy retagging when customers return items to stores. The application is designed to be easy to use and secure. Once a tag is written, the EPC bank in the tag is locked with a password in order to prevent unauthorized rewriting of the tag.

GOODS IN

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION SCREENSHOTS

“Fast and flawless goods

receival”

The “Goods in” application makes receiving items at stores quick and painless.

Utilizing RFID during goods-in improves efficiency significantly. Tagged items can be read through shipping boxes. There is no need to process all items individually, which can be extremely time consuming.

The “Goods in” application can be used for receiving shipments for which item content information is available in the backend system prior to arrival. By reading a barcode or an RFID tag the application identifies the shipment and knows what particular items it should contain. Thus it is easy to check that all expected items are included and provide the scan result to the backend system for setting a new storage location for the items.

In case the item content of a shipment is not known in advance, a custom tag interpreter module has to be incorporated to the application for extracting the SKU information from a tag.

The RFID-based ”Stock Transfer” application transfers smoothly and accurately RFID-tagged goods from one location to another.

The “Stock Transfer” application is developed for transferring RFID-tagged goods between different locations. It can be used at any step of a supply chain, and it is extremely easy and comfortable for the user. Stock transfer operations, such as transferring goods from backroom to the shop floor, have never before been this easy to perform.

When selecting the goods-to-be-transferred, the “Stock Transfer” application asks the original location and the target location of the goods. After selection, the goods are scanned - the smaller reading distance guarantees the right goods to be read and minimizes the reading errors. After this, the transfer data is synchronized with the backend system.

NORDIC ID APPLICATIONS

NIDA UTILITIES

www.nordicid.com www.rfidarena.com

NIDA platform provides several free of charge and built-in utility applications for making the usage more convenient.

LOGINNIDA platform provides an easy way for identifying the end user and granting him with access to the applications in the mobile computer. The credentials may be entered manually or by reading a barcode or an RFID tag containing both the username and password information.

After the user has been identified, all the produced data e.g. inventory result list is tagged to the user id. This additional information can be used in the backend system for monitoring who has executed certain processes.

TASKLIST

The Tasklist application provides indepth information into the NIDA Platform usage. It gives the user a better view on what processes have been done with certain applications and even allows re-doing them before synchronizing the results with the backend system. Additionally the Tasklist application serves as an interface for endusers for assigning tasks from the backend system. E.g. a backend system generates a picking list due to an online order. This will create an entry in the Tasklist application and once a user selects it, a picking application will be automatically launched for collecting the particular items.

PRODUCT INFO

As the name suggest, this application allows the user to browse through the product details programmed in the platform database. The product details shown to the user are highly configurable, the details can be numerical information, descriptions or even an image of the item.

The Product Info application has many interlinking qualities between several NIDA applications. For example the inventory application can show a missing item list which takes the user to Product Info if an item is clicked. Additionally the user is able to jump directly from the Product Info application to the Locate application for searching a particular item.

DATA EXCHANGE

The NIDA platform provides multiple ways for synchronizing gathered data in the NIDA platform with the backend system. The platform contains SOAP and JSON Web Service clients, depending on which has been used for developing the backend integration. Either one of the synchronization clients can be launched manually through the platform UI by the user. Automatic synchronization can be initiated by docking the device or upon start or closing the application. This is configurable through the platform settings.

The platform is also capable of generating files of the gathered data if the Web Service based integration is not an option. This method is a viable solution e.g. in piloting or in simple installations. The produced files can be in CSV, XML or TXT format. The file can be sent to a PC via ActiveSync or FTP connection for further processing. If the device has access to the internet, an email containing the gathered data can also be sent to a specified email account.
