Most of them have not paid Him any attention for 11 months and now they speak of Him as “the Reason for the Sea- son.” You and I know that Jesus was not likely born in December and further there is no instruction in the Bible in regards to a Christmas holiday. In no way would I ever advocate making a reli- gious holiday of Christmas because I do not believe we should. (Romans 14:5-6) But I want us to keep in mind that we can be creatures of op- portunity. I am not advocating having the Christmas spirit in you but looking for those opportunities to show your Christian spirit. There will be needs that arise this time of year that do not at other times. Do not judge why someone is in need; just see if you can help (Galatians 6:1-2). There will be people looking for answers to spiritual questions; be ready to answer them with the love of Christ in your heart (2 Peter 3:15). Let’s not be dogmatically nega- tive on what this holiday should or should not be. Let’s be our best Christian example so that while others are looking for Christ we give them something to see. Make it a Merry Christmas for someone so you have an opportunity to help them become a Chris- tian. Paul became all things to all men so that he could by all means save some (1 Corinthians 9:22). That’s what I’m suggesting for you during this time of year. Steven Haguewood

SERVICE ASSIGNMENTS

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR (Make the best of it)

This time of year many eyes begin to look in the direction of our Lord. Most of them have not paid Him any attention for 11 months and now they speak of Him as “the Reason for the Sea-son.” You and I know that Jesus was not likely born in December and further there is no instruction in the Bible in regards to a Christmas holiday. In no way would I ever advocate making a reli-gious holiday of Christmas because I do not believe we should. (Romans 14:5-6)

But I want us to keep in mind that we can be creatures of op-portunity. Let’s not be dogmatically nega-tive on what this holiday should or should not be. Let’s be our best Christian example so that while others are looking for Christ we give them something to see. Make it a Merry Christmas for someone so you have an opportunity to help them become a Chris-tian. Paul became all things to all men so that he could by all means save some (1 Corinthians 9:22). That’s what I’m suggesting for you during this time of year.

Announcements

Reminder: Masks are required to be worn at all times during our services and when you are in the building.

Attendance Cards: Please fill out an attendance card and place it in the basket in the back of the auditorium or you can leave it in your pew.

CYC: Any youth or chaperones that are planning to attend CYC in February, please sign the list in the foyer. The cost is $50.00 per person and needs to be turned in to Kevin Grose by December 18th. Make checks out to North End church of Christ. If you need assistance in going, please let one of our elders know.

Thank You

Dear North End family, Thank you so much for the beautiful planter. Also, thank you for the cards, messages and especially the prayers during this difficult time. Our hearts are broken, but we can be comforted in knowing Dad has gained his heavenly reward. He was a true soldier of the cross. With love, Dan & Robin Lyons

Thank you so much for the beautiful planter you sent for our loved ones service. The Raymond Snell Family

Brother Steve Higginbotham, a minister of the Gospel in Tennessee was recently diagnosed with stage four cancer. North End helped with some of his medical expenses. The following is a thank you note from him and his wife.

Dear North End Church, We want to thank you so much for your contribution to help with our medical and travel expenses since Steve’s cancer diagnosis. I don’t know how we would have managed without the love and support of

God’s people. Thank you, Steve & Kim Higginbotham

Remember In Prayer

Jimmy Sailor had a PET scan last week to look at the spot on his lung. He is waiting on the results. Jennifer Allman, sister of Dan Lyons, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She will undergo sur-gery on December 22nd. It will be determined after the surgery if chemotherapy is needed. Ruth Dickson has asked for prayers for her hus-band, Curtis Dickson; her niece, Amy Chaddock-Leasure; and her nephew, Rusty Fox. They are all dealing with health issues. Audrey Watts was recently diagnosed with Covid and the procedure she was to have had to be post-poned. She is feeling better and her Covid symptoms were mild.

Sympathy

We extend our sympathy to Penny Cross at the death of her brother, Rick Sutton. Rick died on December 10th from complications of Covid. Please keep this family in your prayers. There are no arrangements at this time. Our sympathy goes out to the family of Charles Aebi who passed away December 8th from Covid. Brother Aebi preached for many years in the area and taught at Ohio Valley University for more than 30 years. A private funeral will be held next week. There will be a celebration of his life on September 4, 2021.
