A Note From The President
Can you believe it; the year of 2015 is winding
down? The Carolina Plymouth Owners Club only
has one more outing schedule for this year and that is
our Appreciation Dinner at Uncle Bucks in Salisbury
on the 5th. This will also be for our election of Club
Officers for the next two years.
Our Fall Tour was schedule for October 17th. We
were suppose to visit an AACA car show, cruise to
the Rowan Museum, have lunch at Hoff’s Grill and
visit several antique stores. This sounds like a great
Fall outing but where was everyone? Tanya and I
gassed up the old ’64 Plymouth and cruised up to the
NC Transportation Museum where the AACA show
was taken place. We got there a little before 10am
and met up with Rockey and Karen Rozell who were
showing their Corvette. We waited and waited and
waited but no one else showed up. The weather was
great so the four of us had a great time doing the
AACA show and eating at BeBops where we all had
a really great hamburger.
There was only one Plymouth in the show but it was
a very nice one indeed. Below are a few pictures
taken during the AACA show.
Very Nice 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird
Both Rockey & I Liked This 1963 Studebaker
Nice 30 Something Duesenberg
Mike Bucket will be back with us next month with
another installment of ‘Recollections of a
RAMCHARGER’. We have been so lucky to have
Mike’s blessing to print these great stories of the
early days of MOPAR racing and we only have a few
left.
This month we have an article about the 2015 SEMA
show. A big Thank You goes out to Rockey for this
article. In the future I’m hoping more members will
step forward with additional stories (your first car,
how you became a Plymouth (or MOPAR) person,
something interesting about your present MOPAR,
how to articles, or anything else you would like to
share with Club members).
As stated earlier our last outing for 2015 will be
December 5th
at 5pm. Barnes Daniels is our election
committee chairman and the last time I spoke with
him he told me he had a full slate but additional
nominations can be made by giving him a call at 336-
765-0409 (…she’s real fine my 409.. NO NO NO!
…Red Hot Super Stock 413 Plymouth… more like
it!).
Don’t forget our Appreciation Dinner and election of
officers on December 5th at Uncle Bucks in
Salisbury; I hope to see you all there.
Till we meet again, remember to keep those old
Plymouths running and on the road, and God Bless
you all.

2015 SEMA Show
By Rockey Rozell
The Specialty Equipment Market Association
(SEMA) Show took place November 3 - November
6, 2015 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las
Vegas. Two members of the Plymouth Owners Club
from Charlotte attended, David Chamberlain and
Rockey Rozell. A great time was had by all and the
weather was great. We got there four days before
SEMA officially kicked off so that gave use time to
attend the NHRA Nationals at the Las Vegas
dragstrip on Sunday. The Vegas dragstrip attendance
was larger than Charlotte, put a few miles on getting
around that place. As seen on TV, we also toured the
Counting Cars shop and The Count’s showroom and
Ricks Restorations and workshop. Pawn Stars was
also on our tour.
The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty
products trade event in the world. It draws the
industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one
place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. In addition,
the SEMA Show provides attendees with educational
seminars, product demonstrations, special events,
networking opportunities and more.
The 2015 SEMA Show drew more than 60,000
domestic and international buyers. The displays are
segmented into 12 sections, and a New Products
Showcase featured nearly 2,500 newly introduced
parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA
Show provides attendees with educational seminars,
product demonstrations, special events, networking
and opportunities. The SEMA Show is a trade-only
event and not open to the general public.
I have to say the SEMA show was the largest event I
ever attended and I have been to Autofairs, Mopar
Nationals, Chryslers at Carlisle, and AACA Show in
Hershey. I could not cover all of the event halls and
outside areas in five days. I did meet Dennis Gage,
My Classic Cars; Chip Foose, Overhauling; and got
the Mongoose autograph on the movie poster. My
pedometer registered 42 miles for the week, that’s
hard to believe but I didn’t feel it until the flight
home, exhausted. I would highly recommend
attending this show at least once in a lifetime. There
is not enough space to show all the photos taken, but
here is a few.

On November 6th
I took a road trip to Southern
Georgia to take a look at a 1955 Plymouth Belvedere.
After taking a look and driving the Plymouth I made
the decision not to buy the car but to drive on into
Ocala, Florida where the Don Garlits MOPAR Show
was taking place. I arrived in Ocala at around 8pm
and got a hotel room near the Garlits Museum /
Show. The next morning I got up around 7am, had
some coffee, and a bite to eat before going on out to
the show. This was the first time I’ve attended the
Garlits Show and boy What A Show it was!!! The
show was great but the museum was greater. I even
bumped into a few people I knew and even a
Carolina Plymouth Owner Club member.
Oh by the way, shortly after leaving the show my
phone died; yes the same phone I use for a GPS.
Needless to say I made a few wrong turns on the way
home but finally got home around 10:30pm a very
tired boy. Below are a few of the many pictures I
took.
