Spread Warmth in the Lowcountry with One Warm CoatCWIT Participating in One Warm Coat Drive

Did you know that the economic recession has wiped out 8 million jobs or more since it began in late 2007, leaving many homeless and out of work? (US News and World Report, April 2010) CWIT is making strides to help those in need by holding a coat drive from No-vember 9 until January 10 for the non-profit organization One Warm Coat. The coats will be collected on behalf of East Cooper Com-munity Outreach, who in turn will distribute them to needy Lowcountry families.

Last year, we were able to collect more than 300 coats for local families in need! Coats and

jackets should be clean and gently used. Donations may be dropped off at any of the upcoming CWIT networking events (please visit the CWIT Calendar page at http://www.cwitsc.org/calendar.asp). Additional Drop-Off Locations are also listed below. If you would like to serve as a donation location, please email [email protected].

Member of the Month: Lesesne Phillips

Lesesne Phillips is a Charleston native, who was born at the old Navy Hospital and grew up on Marine Corps bases in Alabama, North Carolina, California and Vir-ginia. She received her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in Hos-pitality and Tourism Management and spent eight years in hotel management across the South-east, Northeast and the Poconos. Not long after moving back home to Charleston in 2002, Lesesne switched careers when the hospitality industry tried for a second time to move her away. In 2004, she took her passion for people and service and followed her new career path into Human Resources, going to work for an international staffing company.

This year she joined Hammes Professionals’ staffing team as the Director of Staffing and Talent Acquisition. The Hammes family has been staffing the Lowcountry since 1965, and customer ser-vice has always been their number one priority. What she loves most about her work is connecting with the customer and finding the right match no matter the industry or the job.

Hammes Office Professionals has been an active member of CWIT and Lesesne joined, mainly due to having an active client base of more than 20 logistics companies involved in International Trade.

In addition to being on CWIT’s membership committee and men-toring a College of Charleston student, Lesesne serves on the per-sonnel committee of The Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, is on the Board of Directors as the VP of Programs for the Greater Charleston Call Center Alliance, is a member of Women in Defense, the South Carolina Association of Colleges and Employees and an active participant with the Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, Lesesne enjoys working with various charities, experiencing all the great restaurants in this city, cooking, outside playing with her lab, boating, fishing, travelling and is an avid college football fan – Go Hokies!

If you are looking for experienced employees in either a tempo-rary, temp-to-perm, or for direct hire please contact Lesesne at 843-863-1220 or [email protected].
