Dear Porsche Club membersand Porsche enthusiasts,

You have done a great deal for Porsche inthe past and thus rendered outstandingservices to our marque. For that I offer mysincerest thanks. I would like to ask thatyou support us with the same level of com-mitment in the future as you have done inthe past. As long as Porsche enthusiastsaround the world stand united, we haveevery chance to add many more chaptersto the Porsche success story, even in thisnewly integrated automobile group—thatis my firm conviction.

The last few weeks and months have beena turbulent time for Porsche. The manychanges we have experienced will play asignificant role in shaping the future of ourcompany.

In conjunction with Volkswagen, we intendto create an integrated automobile groupwith no less than ten strong marques by2011. In doing so, we will ensure that thePorsche name retains a high level of free-dom and independence. The company’sheadquarters will remain in Zuffenhausen, along with our development, productionand sales organisation. We are very famil-iar with Porsche’s strengths. Our main ob-jective is to retain as much as possible ofthat which lies at the heart of Porsche—that which has allowed us to enjoy such un-believable success in the past. As a result,we will continue to provide our customerswith unique and fascinating sports cars inyears to come. Porsche can look forwardto a great future, of that there is no doubt.

In this period of transition, we can placeour faith in the strength of Ferry Porsche’slegacy, which has guided the history of ourcompany to this day. More than 60 yearsago, he laid the foundation for our busi-ness with the construction of the firstPorsche sports car. We are indebted to hislegacy and will always remain true to hisideas.

Ferry Porsche was born on the 19th ofSeptember 1909, making this the 100thanniversary of his birthday. For manydecades, he controlled the fate and for-tunes of Porsche and created the specialculture of our company. In today’s uncer-tain times, he gives us the strength andguidance to master the challenges we arefacing and to approach the future of ourcompany with confidence and excitement.

To celebrate this occasion, we are honour-ing Ferry Porsche with a special exhibition, which is on display in the Porsche Museumbetween the 19th of September and the31st of October. The exhibition chroniclesthe diverse life and work of this ingeniousconstructor and pioneer of the automotiveindustry. You are hereby cordially invited tovisit this fascinating exhibition in Zuffen-hausen.

The power and potential of the heritagebrand Porsche is once again underlined bythe array of models unveiled at this year’sInternational Automobile Exhibition (IAA) inFrankfurt. No less than five new modelsare being presented at our stand.

One particular highlight is undoubtedly thenew 911 Turbo. The latest generation ofthis iconic sports car continues to embodythe technical and emotional core of ourproud marque. The 911 GT3 RS and the911 GT3 Cup underline the racing heritagethat makes up the backbone of thePorsche brand. These two pure-bred rac-ing cars represent a dynamic addition toour customer sport range. Porsche puristswill also appreciate the new 911 SportClassic, which reflects the history of themarque. With our fourth series, the Panam-era, we are now launching a four-door GranTurismo that combines the generousspace of a luxurious cruiser with the drivingdynamics of a genuine sports car. This fas-cinating four-seater will allow us to furtherincrease our customer base.

One thing is clear: 2009 will be remem-bered as a very special and extraordinaryyear in the history of the Porsche company.Let us look to the future together. We haveset ourselves ambitious goals and you, theactive members of the global PorscheClubs, can help us to achieve them.

1. News from Porsche AG

Ferry Porsche was born on the 19th ofSeptember 1909, the son of the world-renowned constructor FerdinandPorsche. After completing his schooleducation and a number of trainee-ships, he was involved in all projectsand developments of the Porsche de-sign bureau since its founding in 1931.Surrounded by top-class engineers,Ferry Porsche proved to be a quick

The death of Professor Dr. Ing. h.c. Ferdinand Anton Ernst “Ferry” Porscheon the 27th of March 1998 marked the passing of one of the last great menin automotive history. The first Porsche sports car was constructed underhis leadership in 1948. As Chief Executive and Chairman of the SupervisoryBoard, he built the company into the world’s leading sports car manufactu-rer and ensured that Porsche always retained its independence, even whentimes were tough. Ferry Porsche would have celebrated his 100th birthdayin September 2009.

learner and soon made the move fromtrainee to junior manager. FerdinandPorsche nurtured and challenged hisson, placing him in charge of the VWBeetle trials in 1935 and making himmanager of the test department in 1938.

When his father was taken into Frenchcaptivity in 1946, Ferry took on overallresponsibility for the company and

guided it through the troubled years ofearly post-war Germany. Released fromprison in 1947, Ferdinand Porschewasted no time in lending his full sup-port to his son’s efforts. Observing theCistalia racing car, which was devel-oped entirely under the leadership ofFerry, he happily proclaimed: “I wouldnot have changed a single screw!”

Shortly thereafter, Ferry Porsche madea historic decision—one that under-lined both his technical and entrepre-neurial skill: On the 8th of June 1948,the first Porsche sports car, the Type356 “No.1”, was approved for use inroad traffic. In the second half of 1948,series production of the first Type 356coupés and convertibles began in

Gmünd, with manufacture moving toStuttgart-Zuffenhausen in early 1950.

On the 26th of May 1952, just twoyears after the start of series produc-tion in Zuffenhausen, the world’s firstPorsche Club—Porsche Club Hohensy-burg (now called Porsche Club West-falen e.V.)—was founded in Germany, thus marking the official birth of theglobal Porsche Club scene. In 1950sEurope, Swiss Porsche drivers weresome of the main co-founders of thePorsche Clubs. The Porsche Club Bernwas founded on the 11th of December1953. The Porsche Club Zurich followedon the 7th of July of the following year.

One of the most important success fac-tors for the young Porsche enterprisewas its early focus on export business.Ferry Porsche shipped the first vehiclesto America as early as 1950. In theworld’s greatest market, the Porsche356 soon won over the hearts of sportscar drivers and numerous Hollywoodstars. With models like the 356 Speed-ster, Ferry Porsche instinctively met thedemands of American customers, whoaccounted for half the company’s pro-duction output by 1955. In the sameyear, a private group of AmericanPorsche customers, who offered tech-nical support to one another, laid thefoundations for the Porsche Club of

America, which is now the largestPorsche Club organisation in the world. In 1961, British enthusiasts started thePorsche Club Great Britain, which hassince become Europe’s largest PorscheClub organisation.

Ferry Porsche was always adept at cor-rectly interpreting the signs of thetimes and recognising changes in themarket. At the end of the 1950s, futureprospects for the 356 were quite lim-ited, not least due its close resem-blance to the VW Beetle. Instead of re-developing the established model,Ferry Porsche pursued a new develop-ment based on the tried and tested

Porsche concept with the rear-mounted,air-cooled boxer engine. Opting for the911 designed by his eldest son Ferdi-nand Alexander, was both visionary andrevolutionary, thanks to the car’s un-precedented style and technology.

Ferry Porsche’s recognition of the fu-ture potential of the innovative 911 con-cept is one of his greatest achieve-ments.

The recipe for the 911 series’ successwas the model policy of constant evolu-tion, which allowed the 911 to developinto the perfect sports car. However,Ferry Porsche was also keen to em-brace new ideas. As Chairman of theSupervisory Board, he continued tosteer the fortunes of the company andwas always open to and fascinated bythe innovative ideas of his engineers. With the 914, 924 and 928 models,Porsche entered new waters—not al-ways to the delight of the marque’s “die-hard” customers. Yet these models

also contributed to the company’s suc-cess: In the 1980s, every secondPorsche to be produced was one ofthese front-engined sports cars.

The German Porsche Club scene hadcontinued to develop since the 1950s.At the beginning of the 1980s, Porscheowners were already involved in some40 Clubs throughout the country. 1981then saw the introduction of the Ger-man umbrella organisations—thePorsche Club Deutschland e.V. (PCD).The first German Porsche parade tookplace in Stuttgart between the 29th and31st of October 1982. Ferry Porschewelcomed 800 Club members with 400Porsche vehicles to the event held inthe capital of Baden-Württemberg.

In later years, Ferry Porsche saw hiscompany face a crisis that threatenedits very existence. Yet even whenPorsche became a takeover candidate,he continued to stress his unwaveringdesire for independence. Thanks to the

economic turnaround initiated underthe leadership of Chairman of theBoard Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, FerryPorsche was able to see his life’s workresume its former glory. His death onthe 27th of March 1998 also repre-sented the end of an era: In the sameyear, the last air-cooled 911 of the 993series rolled off the production line.

The heart and highlight of the seventhgeneration of the Turbo is the newpower unit displacing 3.8 litres and de-livering maximum output of 500 bhp(368 kW). The first entirely new enginein the 35-year-history of the Turbocomes with features such as DirectFuel Injection and Porsche’s exclusiveturbocharger with variable turbinegeometry on a gasoline power unit. And

as an option, the new six-cylinder maybe combined for the first time withPorsche’s seven-speed PDK Dop-pelkupplungsgetriebe (Double-ClutchGearbox).

Models equipped with PDK are alsoavailable with a new, optional three-spoke steering wheel with gearshiftpaddles as an alternative to the stan-

dard steering wheel with its proven shiftbuttons. Fitted firmly on the steeringwheel, the right paddle is for shiftingup, the left paddle for shifting down. Inconjunction with the optional SportChrono Package Turbo both thegearshift paddle and the PDK steeringwheel with its shift buttons come withintegrated displays for Launch Controland the Sport/Sport Plus mode, whichare however designed differently on thetwo steering wheels.

this respect. Depending on the configu-ration of the car, the new top model re-quires just 11.4 – 11.7 ltr/100 km(equal to 24.8 – 24.1 mpg imp) underthe EU5 standard. And unlike mostother cars in its segment, the newTurbo remains even further below thecrucial level of fuel consumption forgas guzzler tax in the USA, the specialtax imposed on cars with substantial fuelconsumption. All this despite accelera-tion to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Topspeed, in turn, is 312 km/h or 194 mph.

Porsche Torque Vectoring(PTV)

This system comprises a locking differ-ential and variable standard torque splitat the rear axle. The locking differentialimproves traction when the rear wheelsstart to spin, reduces load changesduring fast cornering and improvesdriving stability at higher speeds. In ad-dition, PTV improves steering behav-iour by selectively braking the rear rightor rear left wheel to increase agility andsteering precision. PTV also offers anincrease in the lateral acceleration po-tential and higher cornering speeds byusing braking interventions with steer-ing support at the rear axle.

The advantages of PTV can best bedemonstrated using the example ofsteering into a corner. As a rule, whendriving dynamically into a corner thefront wheels are turned by the steering

wheel and the vehicle can steer into thecorner with slightly delayed understeerat the limit, taking the flexibility of ele-ments such as chassis bearings andtyres into consideration.

With PTV, the inside rear wheel isbraked slightly as the steering is turnedwhen driving dynamically. This givesthe outside rear wheel a higher drivepower. An additional force (yawing mo-ment) is achieved in the steering direc-tion by the difference in force createdbetween the inside and outside wheel. The result is direct and dynamic steer-ing into the corner.

The heart of the new 911 GT3 RS, thepower unit, is based on the engine al-ready featured in the 911 GT3. Like thelatter, the RS power unit now displaces3.8 instead of 3.6 litres, deliveringeven more power and revving up evenfaster and more dynamically.

The engine featured in the new 911GT3 RS delivers 15 bhp more than itscounterpart in the 911 GT3, that is

maximum output of 450 horsepowerfrom the fast-revving naturally-aspiratedpower unit. This means specific outputof more than 118 bhp per litre from thesix-cylinder, an extremely high figure for

natural-aspiration technology even inthe strictest worldwide comparison. And unlike many other high-perform-ance engines, the power unit in the new911 GT3 RS remains fully suitable foreveryday use.

The new 911 GT3 RS comes exclu-sively with a six-speed manual gearboxoptimised for short gearshift travel, lowweight and high efficiency. To enhancethe level of performance throughoutthe entire range of engine and roadspeed, the gears come with a shortertransmission ratio than on the 911GT3, deliberately making concessionsin terms of even higher top speed.

To further improve its sporting behaviour, the new 911 GT3 RS comes for the firsttime with a purpose-built and speciallyset up PASM suspension, with widertrack not only at the rear, but also onthe front axle. Accordingly, the body ofthe new 911 GT3 RS is wider not onlyat the rear, but also at the front throughthe use of additional wheel arch covers.

The Most Sporting Road-Going 911New Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Delivering even more engine power, offering lower weight, and featuringshorter transmission ratios as well asbody and suspension elements up-graded to an even higher standard, the new 911 GT3 RS sets the founda-tion for homologating the racing ver-sion of the 911 GT3 and therefore of-fers everything it takes for ongoingsuccess on the race track, continuingthe series of absolutely uncompromi-sing, sporting 911s homologated forthe road.

Dynamic engine mounts:

The dynamic engine mounts used asstandard for the first time on the new911 GT3 RS (see figure) improves trac-tion and driving performance. The elec-tronically controlled mounting systemautomatically minimises noticeable vi-brations of the entire power unit (in par-ticular, the engine). This is done bychanging the mount hardness using amagnetisable (magneto-rheological)fluid and an electrically generated mag-netic field. The delayed power impulseproduced by the mass moment of iner-tia of the engine, when steering into acorner or for a quick series of alternat-ing bends, for example, is significantlyreduced and any “after-pressure” of therear minimised. Inspired by racing cars,in which the drive unit is bolted rigidly to

the body, this leads to more stable andprecise handling. The disadvantagesare noticeable engine vibrations and re-duced day-to-day usability for a com-fort-orientated driving style. This vibra-tion is filtered by means of softermounts. The dynamic engine mountscombines both of these advantagesand at the same time reduces verticalengine vibration during acceleration atfull throttle. The result is more unifor-mand higher drive power to the rearaxle with better traction and accelera-tion.

Product Management, Porsche AG

Dynamic engine mounts

The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19sports tyres, the rear axle featurestwelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating325/30 ZR 19 sports tyres.

The dynamic engine mounts featuredas standard also serve to improve thecar’s driving dynamics to an evenhigher level. Depending on driving con-ditions, the mounts change in their stiff-ness and damping effect, improving theconnection between the engine and thebody when driving under very dynamicconditions.

As yet a further point the car’s aerody-namics develop even more downforcethan on the GT3, again benefiting thequalities of the car on the race track.Racing qualities are also why Porscheis introducing another new option in2010, a lithium-ion battery deliveredwith the car and, replacing the conven-tional lead battery, reducing weight bymore than 10 kg or 22 lb.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its closeconnection to motorsport also throughthe dynamic looks of the car borne outin particular by its low ride height, thenew, extra-large carbon-fibre rear wingwith its specifically designed wing sup-ports made of aluminium, the charac-teristic dual tailpipes on the extra-lighttitanium sports exhaust, as well as spe-cial front and rear parts exclusive tothis model.

With its 139 regions, the PorscheClub of America (PCA) is the largestorganisation in the global PorscheClub scene. Every year, the PCA organises some 3000 events. Theabsolute highlight is the popular andtraditional Porsche Parade, whichtook place for the 54th time in 2009.

Following a three-year preparatoryphase, the 650 volunteers of the PCAofficially launched this year’s PorscheParade on the 29th of June 2009.Some 1700 Club members and Porscheenthusiasts in 652 Porsche vehiclescame together at the Keystone Resort& Convention Center in Colorado to en-joy six exciting days in the picturesquesurroundings of the Rocky Mountains.

The highlight of the event was, withoutdoubt, the Concours d’Elégance. On abeautifully sunny day, 108 immaculatelymaintained Porsche vehicles were ap-praised by the expert jury on the fair-ways of the “Ranch House Golf Course”,surrounded by the snow-covered peaksof the Rocky Mountains. In addition, 47

Classic vehicles were presented in ahistoric exhibition. Virtually every modelfrom the 61-year history of the com-pany was on display—a feast for theeyes of any Porsche enthusiast!

The Porsche brand tent at the Con-cours d’Elégance provided participantswith information and advice on the lat-est range of Porsche vehicles as wellas Porsche Classic, Exclusive and

The Porsche brandtent soon became the most popular at-traction at the event, not least due tothe presence of representatives fromPorsche AG and its American sub-sidiary Porsche Cars North America(PCNA). The brand tent also featured an“Owner Relations” counter at whichClub members could gather historic in-formation about their personal Porschevehicle and request a COA (Certificateof Authenticity).

wonder that many visitors had broughtalong their whole family to Keystone. Inaddition to a golf tournament and fourdifferent road tours, which were held inthe form of time trials, drivers couldalso participate in the legendary “Au-tocross” competitions. In these skilltests, drivers were required to manoeu-vre their cars through a cone-filled ob-stacle course in the shortest possibletime. Incidentally, this driver challengeis a firm fixture at all regional events or-ganised by the PCA. Every one of the228 participants relished the challengeto compete with Club members fromdifferent regions, each of them battlingto find the best route through the

course and leave every cone standing, thus avoiding additional time penalties.

A number of interesting seminars werealso on the agenda and well received bythe participants. Of particular interestwere the presentations delivered by thePCNA on new vehicle technologies suchas Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), Di-rect Fuel Injection (DFI) and hybrid en-gines, to name just a few. An additionalhighlight was the talk given by SandraMayr (Club Coordination, Porsche AG)on the new Porsche Museum. Her semi-nar also included a screening of thenew film “The Porsche Way”, whichsoon became a bestseller at the Pa-

rade’s “Goodie Store”, selling out afterjust three days.

The question on everyone’s lips fromthe very beginning of the event: “Will wesee it…?” What they were referring towas the newest member of the Porschefamily—the Panamera. When askedwhether the vehicle would be shown, the representatives of PCNA andPorsche AG always replied with a firm“no”, since the new 911 GT3 was to bethe highlight of the event.

On the evening of the “ConcoursAwards Banquet”, Detlef von Platen,Chief Executive of Porsche Cars North

America, addressed the Club memberswith a very emotional speech and apol-ogised for not being able to provide themost loyal and dedicated Porschebrand ambassadors with a preview ofthe Panamera before its official marketlaunch.

However, at the end of his speech camethe big surprise: Detlef von Platen tookback his initial statement and, to every-body’s delight, announced the exclu-sive preview of the new model. The at-mosphere was electric and not a singleperson was left seated when the newPanamera was driven onto the stage byDavid Pryor (Marketing Manager, PCNA)to the sound of thunderous applause. The other passengers in the vehiclewere PCA president Kurt Gibson, hiswife Angie and Paul Gregor (Club Coor-dinator, Porsche AG).

In his presentation speech, David Pryorunderlined how 61 years of Porschehistory had shaped and formed theDNA of the Panamera and provided a

description of the vehicle's excitingspecification. It was long past midnightbefore the last Club members had fin-ished appreciating the Panamera fromevery angle and exhausted all theirquestions.

This year’s 54th USA Porsche Paradewas certainly one of the most fascinat-ing and emotional events—not leastdue to the sneak preview of the newPanamera. Everyone is now looking for-ward to celebrating the 55th edition ofthe USA Porsche Parade which will beheld on 03/07–08/07/2010 in St.Charles, Illinois.

News from the Porsche MuseumThe director of the Porsche Museum, Achim Stejskal, talkedabout the opening of the new Porsche Museum, which hasalready welcomed over 250,000 visitors in its first sixmonths. The Porsche Museum shop will soon carry specialproducts for Club members and is looking for suggestionsfrom the Club world.

Dieter Landenberger, head of the Porsche Archive, deliv-ered a presentation entitled “100 years of Ferry Porsche” inwhich he provided little known facts from the life and work ofthis impressive man.

News from the Porsche Club sceneMartyn Molyneaux, the chairman of the Porsche ClubGreat Britain (PCGB), provided an insight into the originand organisation of the second-largest Porsche Club in theworld. His presentation mainly focused on the structureof the widely distributed umbrella organisation with its32 registers and 31 regions. Virtually every model fromthe Porsche 356 “Knickscheibe” to the current Panamera isrepresented in this Club. This ensures that synergies areused to optimum effect while avoiding potential cannibalisation.

One of the main challenges facing the Club was the identifi-cation of the many registers and regions under one roof: Al-though they are all separate entities, they are also to be re-garded as one contiguous unit. Adapting the historicClub logo in line with the current corporate identity(CI) of Porsche AG proved to be particularly useful in this

3. Club Management

regard. While retaining its original appearance, thePCGB logo could thus be adapted to the CI such that it nownot only represents the umbrella organisation as an autho-rised Porsche Club but also clearly indicates the affiliationof the various registers and regions.

As one of its latest innovation, PCGB presented its take onthe “cross-model event” issue. It has proven in the past thatthe events organised by the many individual registers arenot only too widely distributed, but are also too small interms of participant numbers. The Club therefore de-cided to combine the events of thematically relatedregisters into three large annual events. Under thisstructure, all Porsche models from the early years up to1973 are covered by a single “Classic” event platform. Sim-ilarly, all models from 1974 to 1997 are represented by an“intermediate” event and all vehicles from 1998 onwards bya “modern” event.

Fred Hampton from the PCGB 356 register provided a moredetailed look at the “Classic” event “Classics at the Castle”.Organised in cooperation with Porsche Cars Great Britainand Porsche Club Coordination, this event is now in its thirdyear and enjoying ever increasing popularity. This new con-cept of showing different Porsche models from a spe-cific era as opposed to a single Classic model has beenvery well received by participants and spectators alike.

The French participants supported this development, refer-ring to experiences with their own, cross-model “ClassicMeeting”.

To close the event, Alexander E. Klein from PorscheClub Coordination provided an up-to-date overview of theworldwide Porsche Classic Club scene:

There are currently 37 Clubs in 16 countries around theworld with a total of 91 regional organisations dedi-cated to lovers of Classic Porsche vehicles—and the num-bers are growing. The most recent addition to be wel-comed to the scene is the Porsche Classic Club Russland.

It was also explained that an ever increasing number ofPorsche Classic Clubs are identifying themselves asauthorised Clubs on the Internet. Since more and moreClubs are adopting the user-friendly interface of the ContentManagement System (CMS) when designing their home-page, approximately 40% of websites now meet thecorporate identity of Porsche. They are thus presentingthemselves as official Porsche Clubs and thereby settingthemselves apart from non-recognised organisations.Porsche Club Coordination will be happy to offer advice onthe subject of CMS Homepage.

The official “Round Table” was followed by another meetingspecifically for matters concerning the German Club scene.Dr. Fritz Letters, president of the Porsche Club Deutschland, introduced the participants to the new race series“Porsche Club Historic Challenge”, which is of partic-ular interest to motorsport enthusiasts with ClassicPorsche vehicles. Additional information can be foundunder www.porsche-club-historic-challenge.de.

Ms Anke Brauns from Porsche Club Coordination Germanythen provided a preview of the German exhibition schedulein 2010. Suggestions were gathered from the Clubs on thebest way to combine the appearance of all Porsche ClassicClubs at exhibitions like the Techno Classica.

The highly productive meeting ended with a relaxing barbe-cue on the hotel terrace in the picturesque surroundings ofthe Eifel landscape.

Porsche Club Coordination would like to thank all participantsfor an informative and constructive workshop and is alreadylooking forward to next year’s “Classic Round Table”.

Burning rubber in Istanbul

The weekend of the 7th and 8th ofJune was one of the hottest everseen in Istanbul. Nevertheless, hundreds of motorsport fans flok-ked to Istanbul Park race track toenjoy the live spectacle of the F1Grand Prix. Amongst the specta-tors were 50 members of the Por-sche Club Istanbul, who had mana-ged to lay their hands on some ofthe coveted tickets. These luckyfew were given the unique opportu-nity of observing the organisersand participants of the PorscheMobil1 Supercup, which was heldas part of the F1 event.

The group then visited thepaddock before conducting a quicktour of the pit lane prior to the qualify-ing session for the Porsche GT3 Cup.

During the spectacular pit stops, thedrivers sat in their 47 degree cockpitswaiting for the “Go” signal. During thequalifying session, the Porsche Motor-sport organisation team assumed a

A firm favourite: The new Porsche Panamera

The highlight of the evening was thepresentation of a revolutionary vehicleconcept: The guests were treated to anexclusive preview of the new Panam-era, before its official unveiling at theIAA! Not only is this Gran Turismo thefirst example of sports car technologybeing employed in a premium four-seater, but it also represents the very

6. Classic reportsPorsche Club Great Britain

Classics at the Castle, Hedingham Castle, Essex, 7th of June 2009Since 2007, the Classic registers ofthe Porsche Club Great Britain havebeen staging a very special event:Every year, Porsche Classic vehi-cles of all types—up to constructionyear 1973—gather in the groundsof one of the Britain’s oldest cast-les, which has been in the posses-sion of the same family since 1140.

With this unique connection betweenautomotive and architectural grandeur, the event carries the very apt name“Classics at the Castle” and has alreadyestablished itself as a highlight on thescene's calendar. Only rarely do youget the chance to see so many gemsfrom Porsche’s magnificent history, sobeautifully arranged in the parklandaround the Norman castle.

Despite the typical miserable Britishweather, the Club members took greatdelight in showing the interested audi-ence their valuable vehicles. The pres-ence of race car icons like the 550 Spy-der, 718 RSK, 911 ST and a Porsche917 even amazed former racing driverRichard Attwood, who together with

Hans Herrmann won the 24 Hours of LeMans in a Porsche 917 back in 1970.Enthralled by the quality of the vehicleson display, he joined organiser FredHampton on the jury to rate thePorsche Classics in different cate-gories and award the proud owners.

It was a day to remember for all loversof Classic Porsche cars, and an impor-tant reminder of two essential acces-sories: a camera and an umbrella.
