Known as the Tono-Pen, it is an ultra-lightweight self- contained instrument. It is simple to handle and thus re- duces adverse patient reaction and user fatigue; in addi- tion, it does not need fluorescein. The accuracy and reproducibility of the Tono-Pen are such that it can be considered a substitute for a Goldman tonometer. The instrument is virtually foolproofand may be used by clinical assistants. Accuracy and reproducibility are achieved because the Tono-Pen averages the results of several readings and then displays both the reading and the statistical measurement of the reading's reliability. The instrument is also self-calibrating. The Tono-Pen has already been acclaimed as an example of the finest modern instrumentation on the market. The audible feed- back guides the user through the measurements in seconds. The shape and size of this instrument allows it to be used easily under an operating microscope or a slit lamp, thus permitting precise placement on the cornea. It can even be used through a soft contact lens. Clinical tests have shown the Pach- Pen to meet or exceed the accuracy of other currently available instruments at a far more competitive price.

Oculab Pach-Pen

The Pach-Pen, the latest pachometer instrument introduced by Carleton Optical Equipment Ltd, is ultralightweight and self-contained. It is so easy to handle that it reduces adverse patient reaction and user fatigue. It is unique in being hand self-monitoring. The audible feedback guides the user through the measurements in seconds. The shape and size of this instrument allows it to be used easily under an operating microscope or a slit lamp, thus permitting precise placement on the cornea. It can even be used through a soft contact lens.

Clinical tests have shown the Pach-Pen to meet or exceed the accuracy of other currently available instruments at a far more competitive price. It emits ultrasonic signals from a 20 MHz transducer and samples at 40 MHz. The built-in microcircuitry avarages these samples and updates the display with the most perpendicular measurement.

The Pach-Pen has already received acclaim as an example of the finest 'state-of-the-art' instrumentation available anywhere today.
