Capacity
There seems to be enough capacity to meet reasonable and forseeable demand for both passenger and freight transport at least until 2030/40
Long term planning is important due to long lead times
![Page 8: Öresund transport infrastructure governance 140331](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062511/54c713234a7959cb538b461e/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Why new capacity and links?
For transportation – possibly not
For regional development – perhaps
![Page 9: Öresund transport infrastructure governance 140331](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062511/54c713234a7959cb538b461e/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Different priorities
Sweden (and particularly Skåne and in specific Malmö) values the Öresund-concept highly and would like cooperation to be devloped
Denmark (and particularly Sealand and in specific Copenhagen) can see some advantages in a strengthening of the Copenhagen region
Resembles a one-sided love-affair…
![Page 10: Öresund transport infrastructure governance 140331](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062511/54c713234a7959cb538b461e/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
The function of transportation
A business-project in order to
meet demand with profitability
A tool for regional development
These are difficult to combine!
![Page 11: Öresund transport infrastructure governance 140331](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062511/54c713234a7959cb538b461e/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Conclusions
Governance is important but…
How to overcome the differences between Denmark and Sweden? National vs Regional
How to reconcile the different priorities?
Decide whether transport infrastructure is business or politics – or try to find the balance
![Page 12: Öresund transport infrastructure governance 140331](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062511/54c713234a7959cb538b461e/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
What to do?
Focus on the present situation!
Use the Öresund Bridge as far as possible – include some stronger regional influence/impact
Develop Helsingborg/Helsinore cooperation based on modern martime transportation/shuttles
HH – is a regional project – not a national
The metro-line should probably not be constructed before 2040 if there is still need for extra capacity
