More on why . . .
Juvenile justice is a system apart from the criminal justice system (kids are not “little adults”).
Juvenile justice system covers the full spectrum from abuse/neglect, delinquency, and family matters.
There are key opportunities for intervention and partnership with other organizations and agencies.
We benefit from utilizing the knowledge garnered from the body of juvenile justice research.
Direct Support for Research
• OJJDP has 56 active grants, cooperative agreements, contracts and IAAs supporting research, evaluation and statistics activities
• OJJDP is making 21 brand new research awards in 2010
• OJJDP’s Research Webpage (to include information about all active research projects) will launch in November 2010.
