AS PRETTY AS PRETTY CAN BE

How did Gene propose?On Christmas morning, Gene gave me an 8 inch OSU Santa Claus and apologized that it wasn’t much of a present, but hoped it would be “OK“. However, he then gave me four tiny boxes. The first box had a piece of paper that said “Will”. The second “you”. The third “marry”. And, last…”me?” I can’t tell you how surprised I was! It was the best Christmas present ever!

After the proposal, how did you begin to plan your wedding?Date. Budget. Venue. Dress. We looked at 8 venues and were careful to select one that offered an outdoor and indoor area. The wedding was in June and we wanted to offer our guests the option of air conditioning so they could cool off.

How did you choose your color palette?I have always been partial to lavender and decided to add another cool color tone to complement lavender. I chose gray. I thought these two colors would look wonderful against the blue of the sky and the lush greenery of the country club setting.


Did you have a wedding theme and

how did you carry it out?

It’s hard to describe. I would say our theme

was classic and elegant. I didn’t want it

too fancy and I didn’t want a “heavy” feel

to the wedding. Carefree. With beautiful,

soft, complementary colors.

What kind of flowers did you carry in

your lovely bouquet?

I chose to carry a classic, traditional

bouquet in a mix of whites. My bouquet

was composed of roses, hydrangeas, and

orchids. The stems were wrapped in silk

and I attached a Kate Spade charm given

to me by my best friend.

What was your favorite part of the

day?

After the ceremony, Gene and I went into

the ballroom and just stopped a moment

to share a some quiet time before the

reception started. We took it all in and

realized we were finally married!!

What was your reception like? Did it meet your expectations?It was full of excitement, happiness, and emotion. It was wonderful in that so many people traveled so far to be with us on this extraordinary day of our lives. Even from Germany! We were very touched and felt so blessed. Also, it was very fun!

Did you have any Oklahoma touches?Does Pistol Pete qualify??? He lent so much fun to the reception! Everyone was all fired up! We all sang the fight song and everyone took picture after picture. I guess it goes without saying that we are big OSU fans. Go Cowboys!

Are there any ideas you would pass onto other brides and grooms?We had a sweetheart table. This is a small table that seats only the bride and groom and has champagne and food, but sits somewhat by itself. We sat together facing our guests, with the attendants and family at another table allowing us to spend more time together but also have our family and friends close by.

Is there anything else you care to share?Our photographer, Sherry Lynch, was amazing. Absolutely fabulous!

Parting words?Everybody we love was there to celebrate our love for each other. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

When Adrienne talks about her husband, her voice softens when she describes his kind hearted ways and big heart. She fell in love with Logan almost instantly. These two sweethearts envisioned a wedding that was outdoors and casual where family and friends would come and “hang out” and enjoy this memorable wedding day.

The wedding was laced with an abundance of country charm and country chic. A wedding where guests could wear boots and jeans, sit down, relax, mingle, and celebrate “Oklahoma country style“. And, that’s the way it happened. Adrienne and Logan and

their guests first gathered at a local vineyard for a very personal ceremony where a close friend read a love story about Adrienne and Logan. To the surprise of the guests, when Adrienne and Logan were pronounced husband and wife, the wedding party took toy cap guns from their boots and blasted away!

Later the bride and groom, along with their guests, moved to a Guthrie restaurant for dinner, dancing, and plenty of celebrating and “mingling”. The newlyweds first danced to Into the Mystic by Van Morrison before everyone danced the night away.

Adrienne and Logan say, “that wedding felt very “us” because we focused on the things we love. We included the outdoors and nature, family antique pieces, beautiful flowers, and we were surrounded by those who were close to our hearts. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!”

Elli and Hamid were the quintessential beautiful wedding couple. Elli is petite and lovely, Hamid handsome and dashing. Together they presented a glamorous couple as they joined in marriage in a Persian ceremony.

The bride radiated in a custom made one of a kind wedding gown enhanced with delicate beading, crystals, and intricate handwork. She alone hand decorated her crystal studded heels. Her attendants wore custom made elegant, emerald green gowns adorned with crystals.

Elli envisioned a wedding where everything was “one of a kind”. The wedding was a perfect balance of sophistication and freshness and was infused with Persian customs. A prominent part of the Persian ceremony is the Sofreh-Aghd - a beautifully decorated “stage” that sits low to the ground. This magnificent table was laden with Persian customs and symbols, all of which Elli made. From the Mirror of Fate, which reflects the


married couple’s life, to the candelabras which represent the bride and groom and the brightness of their future, Elli’s attention to detail was remarkable! During the legal part of the ceremony, female attendants hold a fine silken cloth over the couple and rub two pieces of crystallized sugar cubes together. Called the Kalleh-Ghand, this act is meant to sweeten the couple’s life and love. The intricate sweets, glowing candles, fragrant flowers, abundant food…all created a symbolically rich Persian wedding ceremony.

Honored guests were beautifully attired and arrived expecting to share in the joy of the wedding, have fun, hear traditional music, and dance! The reception was a whirlwind of good food, including traditional Persian dishes, with singing, dancing, and celebrating. Elli says, with no hesitation, “ the wedding was lovely. It was my dream.”
