1. BURGLARY AND FIRE CLASSIFICATION

The label of ECB-S (European Certification Board) on the inner side of the door shows the burglary class (I-V) of the safe and proves that the safe has been tested and accepted accor-ding to the Eurostandard EN 1143-1.

The fire security class is also shown on the label on the inner side of the door. The label of the E-and PTK- Series Safes shows that the safes have been Fire tested according to the Scandinavian NT FIRE 017 standard reaching 60 minutes PAPER.

The fire test label of ECB-S (European Certification Board) of the Data Safe Series DS 4000 shows that the Data Safes have been tested according to the EN 1047-1 standard, protection class S 120 DIS.

2. INSTALLATION OF THE SAFE2.1 The safe must be stored and installed indoors. Room temperature shall be between 10-40°C

in order to maintain the normal qualifications of the safe.

Before installing the safe make sure that the floor bearing capacity is sufficient. The ECB-S label shows the safe weight.

The safe must be placed on a flat surface. Make sure that the door does not turn by itself in any position. Please note opening space requirement 120 degrees when the safe is equipped with pull-out internal fittings.

According to the Eurostandard EN 1143-1 all safes under 1.000 kg must be equipped with floor anchoring. Otherwise the burglary classification is not valid. All safes in KASO E-Series are equipped with the readiness for floor anchoring including a hole and a bolt to be fixed into concrete floor (corresponding anchoring equipment can be used for other floor material). Use of glue is also recommended - especially when the concrete floor isn´t hard enough. User of the safe is responsible for the anchoring of the safe.

1. Locate the safe.

2. Remove the plastic cover plug.

3. Please check that the drilling spot is safe. Drill a min. 110 mm deep hole into the floor through the safe bottom hole.

Use an effective percussion drilling machine with O 16 mm bit.

4. Use e.g. vacuum cleaner to clean off the hole.

5. Fix the anchoring bolt into the hole as deep as possible and turn the nut

as tight as possible.

6. Fix the plastic cover plug.

a) Keylock

The high-security keylock has two keys as standard. The lock is opened by turning the key clockwise and closed by turning the key counterclockwise. Please do not turn the key

by force; if you cant´t turn the key, please check that the key is the right side up in the lock. The key can only be pulled out when the lock is closed.

The keys should be handled carefully and kept in a safe place. Please avoid hitting or dropping the keys against any hard surface. In case of damage, new keys should be ordered in writing.

As the keys can wear out during the years, we recommend that new keys are ordered every 3 (three) years. Always keep the keys in a safe place only accessible to authorized persons. When one original key is lost, adjust the locking device to another pair of keys immediately.

b) Adjusting the keylock for new keys

When the door is open, turn the round handle clockwise thus locking the door.

Open the inside door cover plate of the safe (E- and PTK safe series). The inside door cover plate (see picture 1) of the Data Safe (DS 4000) is moved by unscrewing the two screws at the top and by pushing the plate towards hinges (see picture 1) until the lock is exposed.

Push the lock button (see picture 2) until it stops. Open the lock with a valid key and turn it 180 degrees clockwise until it stops. Remove the key without turning it.

Insert new key and turn the key counter-clockwise until it stops. The lock has now been adju-sted to new key / pair of keys. After adjusting the lock mechanism to new keys, every new key has to be tested with the door open.

c) Opening and closing of the Abloy keylock (DS 4090)

Locking - turn the key clockwise slightly over vertical position until a click is heard (key on the right side of the lock) - return to vertical position and remove the key - the lock is closed

6. INTERNAL FITTINGS

A wide range of internal fittings are available for KASO safes. Loading capacity per fitting 50 kg (even load). You can fix the plain shelves (picture 1) by yourself using the shelf supporters.

* marked inside fittings to be fixed with screws

5. OPENING AND LOCKING OF THE DOOR

After opening the locks turn the round handle counterclockwise, the bolts are sliding in and you can pull the door open. Do not push the door fully open with force, otherwise the hinges may be damaged by the heavy door.

Locking of the doors is done in reverse; shut the door and turn the round handle clockwise after which you can close the lock.

Attention: When closing the door, always make sure that the bolts are inside the door. Do not slam the door with the bolts outside as this can damage the bolt mechanism.

4. COMBINATION LOCK

In case the safe is equipped with a combination lock or an electronical codelock, the operating instructions are enclosed.

changing index

At the top of the dial ring there is an opening index for the opening of the lock. At the left side of the opening index, there is a changing index for changing of combination.Turn the dial slowly and steadily. If an error has been made, the entire series of combination numbers must be re-dialed, turning the dial ring first to the left at least four full revolutions. This applies both to opening and changing of combination.

1.0 To unlock

The lock is set on “10-20-30” at our factory and unlocked using this combination as follows:

1.1 Turn dial to the LEFT, stopping when “10” is aligned with the opening index the FOURTH (4.) time.

1.2 Turn dial to the RIGHT, stopping when “20” is aligned with the opening index the THIRD (3.) time.

1.3 Turn dial to the LEFT, stopping when “30” is aligned with the opening index the SECOND (2.) time.

1.4 Turn dial slowly to the RIGHT until it stops. The lock is unlocked and the door can be pulled open by turning the handle upwards. If the door cannot be opened, start the re-dialing more precisely.

15

2.0 To lock

Turn dial to the LEFT at least four full revolutions.

3.0 Changing of combination

For security reasons it is absolutely necessary that you change the number combination set by the factory. You can change the combination unlimited times.

Unlock the lock as instructed and pull the door open (all changing operations are made when the door is in open position). The bolts are moving out and the dial ring is released.

3.1 Remove of an old combination

Attention: the changing index must be used when removing an old combination. The combination set by the factory is removed as follows:

3.1.1 Turn dial to the LEFT stopping when “10” is aligned with the changing index the FOURTH (4.) time.

3.1.2 Turn dial to the RIGHT stopping when “20” is aligned with the changing index the THIRD (3.) time.

3.1.3 Turn dial to the LEFT stopping when “30” is aligned with the changing index the SECOND (2.) time.

3.1.4 Open the inside cover of the door and insert the changing key in the hole next to the instruction label. Be certain that the wing of the changing key is entirely within the lock. Turn the key 1/4 revolution according to the instruction label. The old combination is now removed. Leave the changing key to this position.

3.2 Setting a new combination

When setting a new combination do not use numbers between 0 and 20 for your last number. Don´t use f.eg. 46-82-13. For maximum security don´t use numbers ending in 0 or 5 and don´t use numbers in rising sequence e.g. 35-50-75.

Attention: changing index must be used when setting a new combination. Our combination example 54 - 38 - 72 is set as follows:

3.2.1 Turn the dial to the LEFT stopping when “54” is aligned with the changing index the FOURTH (4.) time.

3.2.2 Turn the dial to the RIGHT stopping when “38” is aligned with the changing index the THIRD (3.) time.

3.2.3. Turn the dial to the LEFT stopping when “72” is aligned with the changing index the SECOND (2.) time. Leave the dial to this position.

3.2.4 Turn the changing key back to the original position and remove it. The new combination is now set in the lock.

3.2.5 Before closing the door , try the new combination several times: lock the combination lock ( by turning the dial to the left at least four full revolutions), unlock it as instructed using the opening index and turn the handle up.

If the locking mechanism fails to operate, there is an error in setting the combination (most errors are made when one or more numbers are set to the opening index instead of the changing index). Try different alternatives. If necessary, call an accredited locksmith.

If, after waiting for 5 minutes, the wrong code is entered again, the lock will block itself for a further 20 minutes (manipulation resistance). During this time, the remaining delay is depicted on the display and not even the valid number code will open the lock.

- If more than 30 seconds lapse between pressing any two keys, the lock automatically switches itself off for safety reasons. The opening procedure has to be started over.

- Once data have been stored (numerical codes, time frame and user entries), not even a power fail-ure will delete them.

Unblocking the lock - relocking and securing the lock

1. To unblock the lock during the five second readiness for opening, turn the round input unit clock-wise through a half turn from its end position. Please note that the input unit can be turned a quarter turn at any time, but that this distance is not enough to unblock the lock.

2. If the input unit is turned back to its starting position in anti-clockwise direction after the five-sec-ond ready-for opening period, the lock will return to the blocked position and can only be un-blocked after renewed clearing and re-entry of a valid code.
