FLOOD RELIEF: This weekend and next we will be taking a Second Collection to benefit the people of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. More than 90% of the people’s homes were flooded with more than five feet of water, leaving them uninhabitable. Since they do not live in what was considered a flood plain, none of them carried flood insurance. To rebuild their homes and their lives they are desperately in need of help from those of us who are safe and secure in our homes and our lives to help in every way we can. Please be as generous as your means will allow to assist these, our Sisters and Brothers, in their hour of need. Please make out your check to Our Lady of Consolation, marking it with the memo FLOOD RELIEF, or place your cash offering in an envelope marked FLOOD RELIEF. All monies collected will be forwarded to Louisi-ana to Fr. Rick Andrus, S.V.D., Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle for distribution to his people in the greatest need. THANK YOU!

IN GRATITUDE: We are most grateful to Karen and Grant DeCosta and Family for donating a new keyboard in memory of her Mother, Carolyn Guerrina, for use in St. Malachy Church. This is seen as a gift that truly me-morializes Carolyn’s participation for many years in St. Malachy’s Choir. It is also a necessary gift since the 15+ year old keyboard had been “acting up” over the past year at the most importune times. Thank you so much Karen, Grant, and Family.

Does your parish already have FORMED? 3X6HXC FORMED has books too! Many people are often understandably intimidated or overwhelmed by the sheer size and complexity of the Bible. But now, popular author Peter Kreeft, has written a clear road map of the Bible, focusing his keen insight and en-gaging wit on the core message of each book. Sparkling with intelligence and Kreeft's trademark humor, “You Can Understand the Bible”, will trans-form dry study into spiritually satisfying adventures in God's Word. Regardless of how you approached- or didn't approach- the Bible before, you'll come away with a new appreciation of its depth and mean-ing.

CAFÉ Bible Study on the Eucharist This fall the Catholic Adult Faith Enrichment (CAFÉ) team is offering a 10-week class called “Eucharist: Discovering the Mass in the Bible”. The study meets Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm at the SPC and begins on September 8. Each week we will start with a video presentation by Dr. Brant Pitre, an interest-ing and dynamic speaker. He will show us that there are teachings about the Eucharist throughout the Old and New Testament, and help us understand how the Sacrament fits into God’s plan for our salvation. We will then break into small groups for discussion.

This program is available free to all parishioners through the FORMED.org web site. If you do not yet have your personal account at this web site please contact us for help setting it up. The Study Guide can be down-loaded to your computer. Printed copies of the Study Guide will be available for purchase. The short handout includes notes from each lecture and the questions that will be used for the small group discussion. The longer handout contains detailed questions that can be worked on during the week. The approximate cost of these handouts will be $5.00 and $20.00, respectively.

Please register for this class by sending email to [email protected], and indicate which handout you would like to order. If you have questions or would like more information, please call Paul Harkins at 610-466-7494 or Sue Brown at 610-857-2026.

Do you Know the Holy Spirit? Of the three Persons in the Trinity the least understood Person is the Holy Spirit. Well there is a brand new program to help you learn about the Holy Spirit called the Wild Goose Is Loose. The program’s purpose is best summarized by this: “The Wild Goose Project is a simple attempt to invite Catholic Christians into a more profound life giving relationship with the Holy Spirit.” The program consists of 14 segments each running 20 to 30 minutes followed by discussion accompanied by a handout. Why Wild Goose? The Wild Goose was a term that the ancient Celts had for the Holy Spirit. We highly encourage you to join us to learn more about the Holy Spirit. When: Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 at the SPC. Begins: Sunday, September 18 Cost: $5.00 for the handouts Please register for this class by sending email to [email protected]. If you have questions or would like more information, please call Paul Harkins at 610-466-7494. Can’t join but want to learn more about the Holy Spirit? Go to: http://thewildgooseisloose.com/
