THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 12, 2021

¿Qué tenemos que hacer? La alegría es una de las notas características de este domingo de Adviento. Dios, en un gesto total de amor, ha decidido hacerse hombre, uno de nosotros, para compartir nuestras penas y alegrías. Sofonías exhorta al pueblo a que cante de júbilo, porque Dios ha derrotado a los enemigos y ha decidido habitar en medio de él y en él mostrar su gloria. Pablo invita a la Iglesia a “alegrarse en el Señor”, porque la benevolencia, la gratitud y la paz divinas superan todo lo que perturba y desanima. El Bautista “grita” a la gente a que no pierda la alegría y la esperanza, porque el Autor de la salvación ha llegado. Viene con el poder de Dios para liberar al ser humano de la opresión del pecado. Ante la llamada a la conversión por parte de Juan, la gente pregunta: “¿Qué tenemos que hacer?”. Y su propuesta es diferente, extraña, pero realizable: el que tiene algo, que lo comparta con el que no tiene; el que se dedica a los negocios, que no robe, sino que ofrezca la posibilidad de que todos los que trabajan puedan tener lo necesario para vivir en dignidad; los que cuentan con poder, que no sean violentos ni repriman a los demás. Estos ejemplos pueden multiplicarse y actualizarse a cada situación, profesión o modo de vivir en la sociedad. Juan pide que se cambie el rumbo de nuestra existencia en cosas simples, pero concretas. No es sólo un mensaje moralizante y de honradez, que lo es, sino una posibilidad de contribuir a la verdadera paz, que trae la alegría. “Saber que Cristo nos ama, hace que nuestro corazón se inflame de tanta alegría que contagia a cuantos viven a nuestro alrededor” (Papa Francisco). Señor, tú has invadido mi corazón con tu alegría. Ayúdame a contagiarla a los demás. Amén.

Una mirada divina que cambió la historia mexicana

Los ojos de Guadalupe constituyen uno de los grandes enigmas para la ciencia, como han constatado los estudios del ingeniero José Aste Tönsmann, del Centro de Estudios Guadalupanos de México.

Este graduado en ingeniería en sistemas ambientales por la Universidad de Cornell estudió durante más de veinte años la imagen impresa de la Virgen en ese tosco tejido hecho con fibras de maguey de Juan Diego, el indígena que recibió las apariciones que cambiarían decisivamente la historia de México.

Si bien sus dimensiones son microscópicas, el iris y las pupilas de los ojos de la imagen tienen impresa al menos la imagen sumamente detallada de trece personajes. Las mismas personas están presentes tanto en el ojo izquierdo como en el derecho, con diferentes proporciones, al igual que sucede en los ojos de un ser humano que refleja los objetos que tiene en frente.

El reflejo transmitido por los ojos de la Virgen de Guadalupe es la escena en la que Juan Diego mostraba al obispo fray Juan de Zumárraga y a los presentes en la estancia el manto con la misteriosa imagen. Era el 9 de diciembre de 1531.

Estudio digital La técnica que utilizó para su estudio el ingeniero Aste Tönsmann, nacido en Perú, es la del proceso digital de imágenes usado por los satélites y por las sondas espaciales para transmitir informaciones visivas. El científico, de hecho, ha trabajado durante años en IBM en procesamiento digital de imágenes.

No es pintura Según las conclusiones del estudio, reveladas por Aste Tönsmann, nos encontramos ante una imagen “que no ha sido pintada con mano de hombre”.

Ya en el siglo XVIII varios científicos realizaron pruebas científicas que mostraban cómo era imposible pintar una imagen así en un tejido de esa textura. De hecho, con el pasar del tiempo, las fibras del “ayate” o “tilma” que utilizaban los indios se degradan. Normalmente no deberían durar más de veinte años. Juan es santo porque su vida fue un esfuerzo heroico por estar a la altura de su nombre: “de la Cruz”. La locura de la cruz llegó a su plena realización con el tiempo. "El que quiera venir en pos de mí, debe negarse a sí mismo, tomar su cruz y seguirme" (Marcos 8: 34b) es la historia de la vida de Juan. El Misterio Pascual —de la muerte a la vida— marca fuertemente a Juan como reformador, poeta místico y teólogo-sacerdote. Ordenado sacerdote carmelita en 1567 a la edad de 25 años, Juan conoció a Teresa de Ávila y, como ella, se comprometió a seguir la primitiva Regla de los Carmelitas. Como socio de Teresa y por derecho propio, John se comprometió en la obra de reforma y llegó a experimentar el precio de la reforma: creciente oposición, malentendidos, persecución, encarcelamiento. Llegó a conocer la cruz agudamente, a experimentar la muerte de Jesús, mientras se sentaba mes tras mes en su celda oscura, húmeda y estrecha con solo su Dios. Sin embargo, ¡la paradoja! Juan subraya de manera única y contundente la paradoja del evangelio: la cruz conduce a la resurrección, la agonía al éxtasis, las tinieblas a la luz, el abandono a la posesión, la negación del yo a la unión con Dios. Si quiere salvar su vida, debe perderla. Juan es verdaderamente "de la Cruz". Murió a los 49 años, una vida corta, pero completa.

John is a saint because his life was a heroic effort to live up to his name: “of the Cross.” The folly of the cross came to full realization in time. “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me” (Mark 8:34b) is the story of John’s life. The Paschal Mystery—through death to life—strongly marks John as reformer, mystic-poet, and theologian-priest. Ordained a Carmelite priest in 1567 at age 25, John met Teresa of Avila and like her, vowed himself to the primitive Rule of the Carmelites. As partner with Teresa and in his own right, John engaged in the work of reform, and came to experience the price of reform: increasing opposition, misunderstanding, persecution, imprisonment. He came to know the cross acutely—to experience the dying of Jesus—as he sat month after month in his dark, damp, narrow cell with only his God. Yet, the paradox! In this dying of imprisonment John came to life, uttering poetry. In the darkness of the dungeon, John’s spirit came into the Light. There are many mystics, many poets; John is unique as mystic-poet, expressing in his prison-cross the ecstasy of mystical union with God in the Spiritual Canticle. But as agony leads to ecstasy, so John had his Ascent to Mt. Carmel, as he named it in his prose masterpiece. As man-Christian-Carmelite, he experienced in himself this purifying ascent; as spiritual director, he sensed it in others; as psychologist-theologian, he described and analyzed it in his prose writings. His prose works are outstanding in underscoring the cost of discipleship, the path of union with God: rigorous discipline, abandonment, purification. Uniquely and strongly John underlines the gospel paradox: The cross leads to resurrection, agony to ecstasy, darkness to light, abandonment to possession, denial to self to union with God. If you want to save your life, you must lose it. John is truly “of the Cross.” He died at 49—a life short, but full.

Estamos colectando regalos para los niños de la parroquia para que este 23 de Diciembre se les de en nombre de la comunidad. Puede comprar un regalito para niños desde hasta 17 años, lo envuelve y le pone un ticket identificando si es para niño o niña y la edad. Les agradecemos mucho lo que puedan regalar y los niños les dará una razón mas para sonreír.

Les recordamos que el grupo de Jóvenes se esta reuniendo todos los lunes a las 7:30 pm en el salón de la rectoría. Es una buena oportunidad de que aquellos jóvenes que desean formar parte de este grupo se

acerquen estos días después de la celebración de la Eucaristía todos los lunes y participen de este grupo. Apoyemos a estos jóvenes con sus oraciones para que en el futuro sean unos jóvenes lideres y capaces de dar un buen ejemplo como Católicos. Los jóvenes son el futuro de nuestra Iglesia.

project. May God Always bless you. An invitation to the youth in our parish. The Parish Youth group is meeting every Monday at 7:30 pm in the lower room in the rectory. This is a great opportunity to allow teenagers to be part of this group and give testimony of Jesus. Please help us pass the message along to the youth in our homes and families, they meet every Monday after the celebration the Eucharist at 7:30 pm. Let us pray for these young generation so that we can have future leaders who are capable of leading a catholic life. They are the future of our Church.
