Stewards Follow Jesus
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and
take up his cross daily and follow me.” LUKE 9:23
We are not very good at “denying ourselves” in our society. Our
current economic situation is evidence of what happens when
people think they can have everything they want. Jesus calls us to
Stewardship where we set our own personal “wants” aside so that
we have the resources to follow Him instead.

Priestly Vocations
How do I decide upon a Spiritual Director?
Pray and ask the Lord to show you. Look for a priest who is faithful to the teachings of the Church, prayerful, seeking holiness,
witnessing a life of holiness, with whom you are comfortable speaking, and can meet on a regular basis. A good confessor may be
someone to consider. You might also ask someone you trust for a recommendation. When you find someone, meet a few times first
to see how it works out. If you need help in deciding on a director, don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Vocations for as sistance.

Prayer for Priestly Vocations “Lord Jesus, we ask you to bless the Diocese of Camden with an increase of vocations to the priesthood. We pray that young men
from our parishes and families will hear your call and be both generous and courageous in their response. May more young men
serve you as priests who teach the faith, preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments and make you present among us through their
ministry. Encourage them to embrace the joy-filled and fulfilling life of a diocesan priest. May parents support priestly vocations in
their families by prayer and good example. We entrust these prayers through Mary Immaculate, our patroness, hopeful that you will
bless our diocese with more priests in the near future…who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.”
Spiritual Life Formation
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers in our community!
Students’ Farewell to Fr. Joe!
Our entire school community showed their love and appreciation for Fr. Joe
this past week. Students sang for him, made cards for him and gave plenty of high-fives and hugs as he walked the halls of St. John Paul II R.S. We
are grateful for this commitment to our school’s mission, his leadership and
support! Fr. Joe, you will be missed!
Congratulations to our Newest Saint John Paul II Graduates,
Class of 2016!
On June 6, our school community celebrated our seventh graduating class
with a Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Ceremony. Over $36,000 was awarded to the class for achievements in high academics, service to others,
and strong moral character. We are most grateful for the many benefactors
who generously provided scholarships to our graduates and support our school's mission. All our best to the Class of 2016!

News & Notes
This Tuesday, June 21, the Fortnight for Freedom begins
in the United States. This two-week period is a time for us to focus
on the importance of religious liberty and on those who have paid
the ultimate price defending this liberty around the world. Each
day in this fortnight highlights one of these “witnesses to freedom.”
During the first week, those witnesses are:
June 21 – The Little Sisters of the Poor
June 22 – Sts. John Fisher and Thomas More
June 23 – The Coptic Martyrs (21 men executed for being
Christian by ISIS militants on Feb. 15, 2015 in Libya)
June 24 – St. John the Baptist
June 25 – Venerable Henriette Delille
June 26 – Blessed Oscar Romero
Check the displays, in the gathering spaces at both churches,
for one page descriptions of the lives of these holy witnesses for
religious liberty.

Stephen Ministry What are Stephen Ministers?
Stephen Ministers are lay people trained in the
congregation by their Stephen Leaders to provide
one-to-one Christ-centered care to hurting people. These are
people with a compassionate heart who’ve been equipped with
the skills to listen, encourage, and offer support when someone
is in need. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver
at a time and meets with that person once a week.
“Rather, serve one another in love.”
Galatians 5:13b

Tim Staples explains the incredible
impact that the Church’s understanding of
Mary has on our spiritual lives, and the
profound way that Marian doctrines and dogmas safeguard what we
believe about her Son. Using penetrating insights and humor, Tim
shows how correct knowledge of our humble Mother reveals our
own identity in Christ, and empowers us to say “Yes” to God!
