WE ARE IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION

The Bush Camp Somerset

Our base is ‘The Bush Camp’ in Somerset. When we say Outposts is based in a

beautiful rural location we really meant it. It’s an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,

the Quantock Hills . Unbelievable that we're only 10 minutes from the M5 yet totally

secluded.

BUSHCRAFT & SURVIVAL DAY

Our popular Bushcraft & Survival Days for schools and groups offer

offers a memorable introduction to the countryside and how to survive

off the land.

Run by experts they are informative, educational, very hands-on, great

fun and an effective team-building activity including:

Starting a fire

Building a shelter

Eating off the land and cooking it

We can also include bushcraft and survival skills into a multi-activity day

or our residential camps. Contact us to find out more.

COASTAL DAY

COASTEERING: This is a high energy activity which builds self confidence.

Students follow the foot of the cliffs, climbing and scrambling over rocks,

through gullies and rock pools and jumping into the sea, all supported

by our qualified instructors.

KAYAKING (SIT ON TOPS): After a full safety briefing from instructors and

tips on paddling techniques students climb into kayaks for some fun and

games before setting of to explore the caves, coves and inlets along the

coastline from a whole new perspective.

As well as offering a day of coastal activities, these can also form part of

a multi-day residential camp. Contact us to find out more.

MULTI-ACTIVITY DAY

Outposts can offer an exciting day of adventurous outdoor activities for

your school or group including archery, air guns and raft-building.

The aim of the day is to help young people learn new skills such as team

work, problem-solving, decision-making and communication in a

practical, fun environment away from the classroom. It is also

designed to foster the understanding of rules and regulations which is

essential when taking part in such activities. Skills which are

transferable back into the classroom and the world of work.

TEAM-BUILDING DAY

Outposts has years of experience with team-building activities for

schools and groups to develop skills such a communication,

confidence, empathy, listening and team-work. When planning your day

we work closely with you to make absolutely sure we get the right mix

of activities and challenges to suit your objectives and age group. We

have a series of purpose built ‘tasks’ spread across our 70 acre site

which we use to develop teamwork skills.

The day can either take place at our purpose-built site or we can come

to you.

at Outposts. Not only is the

YEAR 6 TRANSITION DAY

The aim of the Year 6 Transition Day programme is for everyone - staff

and students - to get to know one another, helping make a smooth

transition to secondary school.

The students will participate in a variety of tasks, selected so they mix

and work together, solving physical and mental problems, whilst most

importantly having fun. The tasks will encourage group participation,

communication, competition, creativity, leadership, planning, problem-

solving, risk-taking, support and trust, in order to reach solutions.

The day can either take place at our purpose-built site or we can come

to you.

ALTERNATIVE LEARNING

Outposts provides specialist, tailor-made alternative learning

programmes designed to support young people facing emotional and

behavioural challenges in mainstream education or excluded from

school.

Our aim is for students to acquire increased self-esteem and

confidence through achievement and accomplishment, by:

Improving inter-personal and communication skills.

Promoting a better understanding of social interaction.

Encouraging a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Teaching life skills and instilling a sense of belonging.

STAFF INSET DAY

Outposts can help you to maximise these training opportunities in

numerous ways. Whether you want to create a means by which the

whole staff can get to know each other (and any new staff) better;

whether you would like to equip your Middle Leaders with effective

management and leadership skills or if you simply want to start the year

or term with a dynamic, engaging and fun session that will engender a

shared sense of purpose and enthusiasm, we can help.

We are specialists in teambuilding and leadership training for adults as

well as students. We create bespoke programmes to support personal

and professional development based on your requirements and

budgets.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID DAY

Learn essential life-saving skills and first aid on an Outposts

Emergency First Aid Day. After a morning spent learning a range of key

first aid and life-saving skills, put what you have learned, as individuals

and as a team, into practice as you complete a Casualty Evacuation. This

is an exciting, fun and task-orientated day which is excellent for

promoting key team skills including communication, collaboration and

problem-solving.

Please note this is a Non-Certified First Aid Course; however we are able

to provide Certified Courses so please do ask.

STAFF AND QUALITY STAFF

All our instructors and facilitators are inducted and vetted by us. Their training and

qualifications are current and they have been DBS checked. With years worth of

experience working with young people on outdoor educational programmes, they

bring a wealth of knowledge and life experience to help inspire and encourage.

QUALITY AND SAFETY

Outposts maintains the highest levels of safety and ensure that we are fully compliant

with, and often exceed, industry standards expected of UK outdoor activity

companies. Outposts is certified as conforming with British Standard 8848:2014 and

AALA licensed and as such has all risk assessments and safe working practices

externally audited. Outposts has Public and Employer’s Liability to £10,000,000.

chat through what you are looking for initially and let you know a bit more about us

and what we do. You are very welcome to come and visit before committing. There is

always tea and plenty of biscuits!

CREATE A BESPOKE PACKAGE

The next step is for us to liaise on the finer details. We will then go away and create a

completely bespoke programme depending on your learning objectives, budget, age

group and time of year. There is no obligation at this stage.
