COMPETITION DOES NOT PROVE A BOON FOR EVERYONE
SOME PEOPLE ARE VULNERABLE TO FAILURE
Is YOUR child one of them??
How would you know??
Maybe........because• Last time he failed......• He is very sensitive...• He hates to be compared...• He is very tensed during exams and even for
the results• He is a depressive or a crying baby since always• He always wants to come first• He is overconfident this time• He hates himself if he looses• He feels the only way to make us happy is if he
comes first
Are you parents at fault....• We want to be a doctor• We expect he has to come first this time• We want to show the sharmas that our kid can also come
first• I have a spent a lot on the tuitions• We dont let him waste any time• No TV, No Cricket,No Friends,No phone.....a big list of NOs.• I have time...recession is going on....Ghar bhi to chalana
hai.• We have our own emotional problems.• We dont get along...shouldnt his father also give him time.• My child is such a problem kid i just hate him
OH MY GOD!!!.....
HOW CAN YOU BLAME US
DENIAL
ARE YOU IN DENIAL....• I have done my best• I tried then i gave up• You spend a day with my child• We dont expect anything from him
now.• He is a good for nothing• Today there is s much competition• We were really very good children• What can we do• See i took him to a psychiatrist...what
more can i do
I am Helpless......
How will i handle his failure??
FIRST. Deal with your fears
HOW TO DEAL WITH FAILURE??
WHAT IS FAILURE??
IT IS BASICALLY A STATE OF MIND
BE PREPAREDfor the
WORST.
TALK TO YOUR KIDBUT
WHAT?
TALK TO YOUR KIDBUT
WHAT?
TALK TO YOUR KIDBUT
WHAT?
WHAT DO I TELL HIM?
• What is his expectation?(assess it .....how real it is)
• What does he intend to do later?(is he flexible...is there a plan ‘B’?)
• What if he fails like last time?• Does he know the consequences of
failing?• Is he in the ‘Dekha Jayega mode’?• What does he think you guys will
think??
• Tell him you love him.• You love him for what he is, not for
what he achieves.• You have expectations but you will not
feel bad if he scores low• Because you know he has tried his
best.and that is what matters.• We should see many dreams so that
some of them come true.• We should never give up.• Time will help you deal with it.• There is someone who can help.
Take care……..and
…………………Thank you.
• Thank you
