Ron Burton Training VillageThe mission of Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) is to enrich the lives of challenged youth in the areas ofdynamic character and leadership development, physical fitness, social and educational advancement, andspiritual growth. Over the past thirty-three years we have served more than 9000 young men and women intheir spiritual, physical and educational growth.
Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) JourneyAccording to research performed by Randstad North America, there are 3 million more STEM jobs thanskilled workers to fill them. These statistics reveal a high demand for STEM-skilled workers and anopportunity for lifetime mobility for the most vulnerable demographics and under-resourced children in theU.S. Our desire is to promote STEM interest among children and to empower them to create positivegenerational change for their families.
STEM Journey Curriculum
Journey Participants & Application Process
The journey is a hands-on project based learning experience designed to increase exposure and access toSTEM. Participants will complete three uniquely designed experiences throughout the Boston area thatfocus on Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. In addition to the academic component, the journeywill expose participants to financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and spiritual growth while improving theirleadership and communication skills. The journey will conclude with a weekend overnight experience atRBTV where participants will complete a capstone project that requires use of the technical and soft skillspreviously learned. The 2019 capstone theme is "Disruptive Technology: Self Driving Cars". Below are the 2019 journey dates. If selected, participants are required to attend all experiences unlessprior approval is granted by RBTV.
The journey is open to 5th - 7th grade girls. All applicants must submit an application. If you are selectedto the next round, an interview is required. We are looking for candidates who:
