SNOW REMOVAL In order to allow for the clearing of snow and the salting/sanding of the steps and

entrances, please note that the ramp doors off the church parking lot will be the entrance prepared first and open for morning Mass. If it is snowy, icy or walking is otherwise im-paired, please do not use the side walkway nor the Alsace Street entrance to the chapel.

Sr. Bernadette will no longer be recycling cartridges. On behalf of our youth, we thank you for all have contributed for the last several years.

LITTLE ROCK SCRPIPTUE STUDY

The Eucharist in Scripture

“The Eucharist in Scripture emphasizes the importance of meals shared in faithful fellowship as part of our covenant relationship with God. Old Testament meals and promises provide the foundation for gospel meals with Jesus, culminating in the Last Supper as under-stood by Paul and in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. 'Breaking bread,' in Acts and the Bread of Life discourse in John are carefully examined.”How it works: at home you read the study material which includes questions that you may answer which is discussed at a weekly meeting at the church (Lemire

Room). The meetings are on Monday and Thursday nights at around 7:00 PM (times may change per group decision). There is a brief wrap up lecture (DVR) from the Little Rock people. Praying ‘from the heart’ is encouraged. Five weekly classes to begin on the week of February 19th and ending just before the Passion Week.

For more info call the office @ 6234715 or Tony Gagnon @ 4832626.

Prayer: Throughout Scr ipture, Jesus goes to pray in deserted place. Lent is our "deserted place." We draw near to God through Mass, confession, and spiritual practices like the Stations of the Cross, but we are also invited to spend time in prayer alone with the Father like Jesus did.

Fasting: Fasting is not a diet! With a diet, we try to achieve a physical goal in this world. In fasting, we try to achieve a spiritual goal in the next. Fasting helps us to sacrifice our preferences and lessthanhealthy impulses to build discipline to choose the good in all areas of life.

Almsgiving: Time and time again, the Bible tells us that to love God we must love others. Our "neighbor" is someone we might not expect. Giving alms is an opportunity to support and care for our neighbor in need.

Page 4: Parish of the Transfiguration

PARKING The number of programs and ministries in our parish has in-creased over the last year and with them, meetings and appoint-ments have also increased. These meetings require the staff to return to the parish many evenings and weekends, including weekend Masses. Please help us by not parking next to the rectory and leaving the staff’s parking spaces open for their use. Please note that the roadway between the parking lot and the school building is a public way and cars parked there may be ticketed or towed by the city. The area in the alley next to the church is a fire zone and should also be kept clear.

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONEWHO COULD BE

COMFORTED BY A PRAYER SHAWL? Please remember that we have a wonderful group of women who knit beautiful prayer shawls to comfort people who are ill or are going through a difficult time. Many people who have received a shawl have written telling us what a blessing it was to receive one. If you, a loved one or a friend is in need of a prayer shawl please call the Parish Nurse Office.(6638002).

NEW ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED! We are looking to train adult and student altar servers. (Date and time to be decided). Servers are needed at all the Masses. Please call Tom Maloney if you are interested @ 6036447604 or email the parish at : [email protected].

DEAR PARISH OF THE

TRANSFIGURATION COMMUNITY,

We are proud to share with you that Camp Fatima & Camp Ber-nadette are recognizing one of your beloved community mem-bers, Sister Bernadette Turgeon. Sister Bernadette is being rec-ognized on March 3, 2018 at our Recognition and Scholarship Dinner for her dedication to our Camp community and for her service to Christ and our Diocese. During Sisters’ 60 years of religious life, she has shared 15 of her summers at our Diocesan Camps helping young girls to see the joy of a friendship with Jesus.

We thank both the Parish of Transfiguration and Sisters of Notre Dame for allowing her love of youth to be shared, with her first love of Christ, at Camp Bernadette. In accordance with the Sis-ters of Notre Dame mission statement, Sister Bernadette’s heart, “as wide as the world” has indeed helped children to better know Christ. Her work as a teacher combined with her youth and young adult service have allowed her to share a Christ centered life with campers and young adults who serve as counselors and staff. You have only to see the sparkle in our campers’ eyes when they see Sr. Bernadette to know that her presence has made a difference in the lives of these girls. Though the fruits may not be counted here, we know she has helped to build Christ’s Kingdom here on earth and we give thanks.

We invite you to join us in her recognition on March 3, 2018, 6 PM at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, NH. If you would like more information, please visit our website bfcamp.com or contact Sara at our winter office at 6033645851.
