Genre

• The Genre for this is animation but splits into hybrids. • This is firstly a children's comedy• It expands on the idea of where do I come from? It

expands from the idea of the stork bringing us and shows where does the stork get us from. It shows how people and animals are made

• It goes into genres of betrayal and that the stork would rather have another cloud

• This film really gives off the message of friendship and that no matter what there is loyalty in friendship.

Narrative• Partly Cloudy goes from the idea of ‘where do I come from?’ and it goes

of the story of that the stork brought you. The story is from this, and that we are made from the clouds. Most of the clouds create friendly creatures such as cats and dogs, but there is one cloud who creates the more vicious creatures such as sharks and alligators. This cloud and the stork that has to deliver these creatures are our main characters. It shows the hard job that the stork has to do but shows how sad and in pain he is. His friend the cloud is sorry for him but this is what he creates. This is the dilemma in which then the stork goes to another cloud in which his original cloud gets up set as he thinks the stork thinks he is to good for him. In which the stork comes back with armour to do the task in which the matter is resolved.

• It is a closed story narrative, and goes from the story of Order, Disorder Order restored. It is closed as it shows the conclusion of it.

Representation

• In this we are only shown 2 main characters in which they contrast with the other clouds and storks.

• The other clouds and storks are happy and create nice creatures and enjoy working together. These clouds are shown as pure white clouds

• While our main characters are the opposite of this. This is shown by their physical appearance. The cloud character, is a storm cloud, as he creates destructive creatures. The appearance of this cloud is dark, and the stork instead of happy is continually worried and frightened.

• They use a significant amount of personification to show these different personality's.

Audience

• The film is primarily aimed at children, aged from 6-12• People who would have watched this would watch this

at a theatre just before the feature Pixar film. • The Gender of this audience would fit into both brackets• The religion would primarily be Christianity as this

would be aimed at the western part of the world.• Income would be from parents taking them to see the

movie. The families demographic would be mainstreamers

Media Language

• The editing of this is all used by animation so it is easier to make cuts and so on continuity you can just animate the mistakes.

• Mie sen scene has just surrounded by clouds that are the setting and the characters.

• The sounds used are ones that pixar have created in the past and can use again.

Funding and Distribution• The film maker is Pixar in which has much funding to do this as

they are apart of a big conglomerate and they specialise in making animation films. The own logo is from a short film, as Pixar are a prime example of how they started out small and now are the leading animation company.

• . A lot of the time short films are shown before a feature film in a cinema, this will be linked with the feature film as it will be the same producer as it will be them funding it. But with these short films they can really only be about 7 minutes long as the cinema have to screen other films and if the short film and the film together comes to 3 hours long they can really on make 3 sales a day, which is bad for business they could have had more sales.

Success

• Partly Cloudy was critically successful as it received positive feedback from critics and viewer. ‘Once again, Pixar has accompanied one of its wonderful features’ that was a comment from a viewer who has liked the short film and thought it was successful.

• Pixar were very successful by showing the message of the story in a fun and creative way which was fantasy to young children to explain where babies come from
