WARNING IMPORTANTIt is the responsiblity of the installer to warn all potential end users of

the dangers of interfering with mechanisms during

    operation

Mechanisms which lift or move weights need

to be checked on a yearlybasis for any damage which may result in an accident

  • Before You BeginIt is important that before starting the installation you are familiar with the operations of the mechanism. The inner carriage is lowered by steel cablesunwinding from the motor tube. It is important that these cables remain woundas they come supplied and are not allowed to unravel.

Before you start to operate the mechanism, make sure that the main box of the Projector Drop mechanism is properly supported. Hanging the mechanism from the black framework is one option.

    OUT Button : Drop Down

    IN Button: Lift Up

    STOP Button: Stop

See Later pages in theseinstructions for how toconnect the control box

If you do run the mechanism with the main box supported from underneath, for example on wooden blocks, be ready to press the STOP button on the IR remote control.

DO NOT LET THE MECHANISM BOTTOM OUT ON THE FLOOR!

Otherwise the cables will unravel and the mechanism willneed resetting.

Stage 1Cutting the hole in the ceiling

    Hole Details

The hole in the ceiling should be no larger than 575mm x 575mm square.

There MUST be timber joists, or similarly suitable fixing points, at the front

    and rear of the hole.

See PD1 Technical Sheetsfor further details.

  • Connect the control box tothe mains power supply.

Connect the infraredremote sensor, evenif you are going touse switch controland do not intend

    to use it.

The control box must bevery easy to access in caseof any servicing that may

    need to be carried out.

The control box should beplaced in an easily accesible

location. Next to other AVequipment may be prefered.

The cables between thecontrol box and the

    mechanism can easilybe extended.

  • Loosen the four nuts thathold the base plate to the

projector carriage. The baseplate will slide off.

With the base plate removed, usethe remote control to raise the carriageup into the main box of the mechanism.

It is necessary to remove the base plate

so that when the carriage is up in the

main box, it is possible to get to the holes

that you will need to screw through into

    the timber joists.

    Why?

Stage 3Removing The Base Plate & Closing The Mechanism

  • Cables enter through here

Firstly, run all the projector cables along the cable track at the rear of the mechanism.

Cables exit at base of cable track

    Fixing

With the mechanism in theceiling cavity, use the holeson the front and rear facesof the main box to screw through into the joists.

    Use as many fixingsas possible.

Always use suitable fixingsand always use the largestfixings possible, to enable

    a secure fixing.

Stage 4Running The Projector Cables & Fitting In The Ceiling

  • Check Operation & Fit ProjectorStage 5

With the mechanism securely fitted in the ceiling cavity, run it up and down a few times to check

    it is operating satisfactorily.

Once it is clear that the mechanismis working correctly, it is thenpossible to fix the projector

    to the projector carriage.

    ProjectorMounting

All projectors aredifferent. Use thevarious bolts and

washers supplied to fitthe projector to the topsurface of the projector

    carriage.

    As shown below left.

  • The base fits back on via 4M6 studs locating through

the holes in the bottom edges of the projector

    carriage.

    Make sure these aresuitably tightened.

  • If you require the projector to be in a tiltedposition when lowered, then simply removethe bolts that hold the rear of the channelsliders in position. Then reposition the

sliders using one of the highermounting holes.

    by min. 3mm

    These must stay seperated

Firstly, drop the projector carriage as low down as possible,to give better access to the necessary adjustment points.

With the carriage lowered, it should be possibleto see the motor controls. They are 2 hexagon keys that determine the 'up stop' and the 'down stop'. The mechanism comes pre-set to the maximum allowable drop (400mm Std Drop, 700mm Extra Drop), but you may wish to alter the height at which the projector sits when the mechanism is lowered. To do this, you need to turn the key that is marked 2 and coloured red.

Anti-clockwise will lower the position and clockwise will raise it.

    Key 2Marked RED

It is VERY important that when adjusting thedrop of the mechanism, the sliders in the top ofthe main box do not reach the stops at the end of the slider channel.

  • IMPORTANTIt is very important thatyou check that the cablesare set up correctly. Makesure that they are notrubbing, are square andthat they are neatly coiledclose to the collarsthey connect to.

    PROJECTORDOWN

    PROJECTORUP

It is very important thatthe cables run within thegroove of the pulleys at

    the top of the mechanism.

A view of one of the pulleysis shown below, showinghow the cable should be

    positioned within thegroove.

    Stage 8Final Checks

  • The PD1 mechanism must be connected to both the AC1 and DC1 blocks of connections. If you wish to also operate an electric screen using the control box, it must be connected to the AC2 block.

The AC2 output can only be used to control a 240V motorisedscreen, using earth, neutral and the two directional lives. Whenthe Projector drop comes down, the screen can then drop.

Connect the IEC Power Lead Here

    A

Remove this screw to release the lid

It is VERY important that when all of theelectrical connections are made, the

connector blocks are connected in theway shown above, with all the wires

coming directly out the top of theconnector blocks.

  • AC1Gives an output of 240V(or 110V) to control the Projector drop motor.

Outputs stay live for 60 seconds afterthe OUT or IN functions are selected.

DC1A low voltage connection for the up stop switch in the mechanism. This must be re-connected if you extend the cables. When the up switch is hit, the connection between CC1 and ground is broken and the projector drop stops going up.

EMERGENCY STOPThis connection will stop all functions of the mechanism once broken / removed. Red LED will also be on.

Contact Closure LEDsTo show the contact closure operation is working correctly.LEDs are on when connections are shorted together.

UP DELAY Link CC3 to 0V to delay the in time by 2 minutes. This allows the projector to cool before going up into the ceiling.
