The people stand. The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Let us offer prayers to God for the vineyard of the Lord of hosts, and for all those in any need, saying: Hear us, O Holy One. For the Church: especially Michael our Presiding Bishop, Daniel our Bishop, for Hillary and Andrew our Priests and for the Diocese of Pennsylvania, that we may press on toward the goal for the prize God has prepared for us, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For this parish family, especially Holly and Scott who were married last week, Tom and Susan who celebrate their anniversary and Tom who celebrates another year of life, all in whose honor the altar flowers have been given, that we may be strengthened to produce a harvest rich in justice, mercy, compassion and forgiveness, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For the victims and families of the Las Vegas shooting, that God's healing love will sustain and renew them, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For Donald our President, Thomas our Governor and for the leaders of the nations, that God will guide their hearts in the

way of peace and help us find new ways of settling conflicts, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For all who tend the fields and bring food to our tables, that God will strengthen them and protect them in their labors, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For all first-responders, police and firefighters, and all those in need of our prayers especially Walter, Bernie, Roe, Nancy, Posie, Michelle, Cristian, Elizabeth, Karl, Marcella, Daphne, John, Karen, Jeann, Lucy, Delaney, Diane, Joseph, Bruce, Dave, Harry, Jane, Chris and for those we now name either silently or aloud (pause); that God will sustain them and keep them safe, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. For all the departed, remembering especially those we now name either silently or aloud (pause); that they may share in the abundant harvest of the kingdom of heaven, let us pray to the Lord. Hear us, O Holy One. Lifting our voices with all creation, with Saint Christopher and all the saints, let us offer ourselves and one another to the living God through Christ. To you, O Lord our God. Celebrant God and master of the vineyard, hear our prayers

and enrich your church with new growth that we may bear fruit in abundance and produce a rich harvest for eternal life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Celebrant We pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.

We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.

On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me."

Therefore, according to his command, O Father, Celebrant and People

We remember his death, We proclaim his resurrection, We await his coming in glory; The Celebrant continues

And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of

Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with our Risen Lord and all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation. By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. Amen.

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Redirect Your Tax Dollars to St. James School

You may have heard of a program called OSTC (Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program) that allows businesses to donate to scholarships instead of paying their full PA tax bill. Good news! This program is now open to individuals! There are a few requirements you need to meet to be eligible, but the process is quite simple, and St. James can walk you through every step. Today Dave Kasievich St. James Head of School will give an overview of how St. James makes a difference, and how to take advantage of this tax credit program. David will be answering any questions at Coffee Hour.

Discipleship Education

The Rev. Hillary Raining and Tom Allen are leading a series on Augustine which runs through October 22nd. More information can be found on the website or the monthly newsletter.

Celebration of Holy Communion

Holy Communion is the central act of worship within the Episcopal Church, and it continually invites us to live out our baptismal identity, as members of Christ’s body. We will be offering a series of learning activities to assist children and families of all ages to fully participate in the celebration of Holy Communion. Activities will be held:

9:10-9:45 a.m., Sundays, October 15, 22, 29 and November 5 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 3

These times will focus on developing deeper understandings, and learning prayers, helping children to prepare to receive Holy Communion for the first time or to deepen their appreciation of it.

On Sunday, November 5, 2017, during our celebration of All Saints, we welcome those who are receiving Holy Communion for the first time. For any questions, suggestions, feedback or comments, please e-mail the church office.
