Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As we celebrate the birth of the United States of America this weekend, we also acknowledge the sacrifice of those who have gone before us that endured trials and tribulation so that we could today enjoy the pursuit of happiness which is truly only obtainable in heaven. We honor those lives that have been of-fered up for our freedom that we enjoy. Today we are also faced with the reality that our spirit is to be informed by the life of Christ’s Spirit and that we live in His Life. We are summoned into an existence that does not rest here on this earth, but rather in the existence of heaven – to dwell with God in His Triune nature. As Children of the Light, we acknowledge that our physical body must be developed to endure certain trials and tribulation, and must not succumb to that which is not truly of the Spirit of God. Our bodies will suffer pain, illness, and perhaps indignities by the hands of others – as we are persecuted for righteousness sake, we are joined into the suffering of Jesus Christ and into the glory of what God the Father has in store for us through Him who was raised from the dead. Jesus claims all those who are in right relationship with Him through what they do in His Spirit. Each one of us is to be viewed by those who see us as another Christ. Can we claim all of our activities as inspired by the will of God? Are we able to submit to the Divine will when perhaps our physical body wants something different? Jesus does not come to conquer us in battle to make us his cap-tives or slaves to His Father’s will. He invites us into the rela-tionship of being His friends. As we know to be a friend is to truly become the person’s equal – no longer is the person supe-rior or inferior. God the Father wants us to become what His Son has exemplified for us – a person who works within the Spirit of the Divine not within that which will perish. I invite you, brothers and sisters in Christ, to look into your souls and recognize His Power and submit to Him who conquers that which does not belong within the human person. Let us together become the “child” who seeks and desires to learn the ways of the Master Teacher who is God in Jesus Christ. Please also take a look at the parish website and subscribe to our You Tube Channel and avail yourselves of the many videos we have created and will create for your spiritual and intellectual benefit. Use our E-Bulletin to avail yourselves of the Vacation Bible School (VBS) that will be conducted virtually from our platform. The VBS will be available to you and your family throughout the month of July only. We thank our volunteers who have labored to make this program available during these unusual times, and we give God honor and glory for all that we are and can become. Blessings to you and your family, Vy. Rev. John B. Gabage, V.F.

Did you know… President Kenne-
dy, a Fourth Degree Knight, drew
attention to a theme that has been
threaded throughout American his-
tory from the outset. In the second
paragraph of his inauguration ad-
dress , he reminded the nation that
“the rights of man come not from
the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.”
In other words, Kennedy underscored the idea of a
nation “under God.” For most of us who grew up in
the United States, we heard and said those words at
the beginning of every school day.
June marks the 60th anniversary of the addition of
“under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance. And the
Knights of Columbus, who played a pivotal role in the
addition of those two words, continue today to defend
and preserve them from forces that seek to remove
them.
The Knights of Columbus is an organization of
Catholic men dedicated to the Church and the
Community. We are dedicated to you, St. Chris-
topher's Parish. Men interested in joining the
Knights, 18 years of age and older, should contact
Mike McQuillan, [email protected] or 301-655-
8897 or Jim Klunk 410-924-2270 or
[email protected]. During the Summer months,
our virtual meeting is the 4th Tuesday each month
for under 2 hours. Due to the COVID - 19 Pandem-
ic virtual meetings are currently held using Zoom.

2021 Session may be found

Outreach
You have been most gen-
erous to our Food Bank. In
May alone we provided
food to 55 Families in ad-
dition to 250 backpack
Food Bags for chil-
dren. Also we took a variety of items to the
Senior Housing Complex for those who are
shut-ins.
We will continue to help those in need. The
Food Bank is in need of 15 oz. canned veg-
etables (not Green Beans please) and
canned Tuna, Chicken, SPAM.
Try looking up the Contemporary Hymn
“Come live in the Light” by David Haas. He
is a Catholic song writer who is very
good....and his songs/hymns are guidance
to live by and are often sung by Christian
Choirs.
The need for backpacks has diminished significant-ly this summer. (Hopefully a good sign as people re-turn to work).
We will continue to support any family in need. We’ve also found that many in our senior popu-lation are still not comfortable going to pur-chase groceries. Therefore, we are now donat-ing items on a weekly basis to Grasonville Ter-race and Terrapin Grove Senior housing loca-tions. They enjoy a lot of the single sized items that we use for Backpacks. So thank you for your continued support and donations which enable us to help so many!!
