    1. Summary

NMS management system is used for managing PDH devices, it has network

management functions of enquiry alarm, performance and data configuration.

    System request

Microsoft Windows TM NT/2000 series operating system

CPU of above Pentium TM II350

    EMS memory of above 256MB

    Display resolution of 1024768

Harddisk of above 10Gb spare capacity.

    Software installation

NMS software installation is very simple, user only needs to find installation file

setup.exeand then install according to the clews.

    2. Communication mode of network management

NMS network management system can manage multi units of PDH in multi-network.

    2.1 Short-range management

PDH devices only offer one kind of network management port: serial port. If there is

only ETH in external environment, you can use virtual serial card. PDH can support 16

    serial ports at most.

    2.2 Remote management

Remote management means that NMS and device is not at the same place. NMS

manages PDH device through ETHcommon telephone line or DDN, such as followed

Save: save current settings into system, can use for setting of other devices, but need

Download to device, then setting can become effective.

Default: resume the default value configured by interface, at this time data hasnt been

sent down to device, through clicking Apply button, the default data can be sent down to

    device.

Download: after data of network manager interface is configured, the configuring data

can be sent down to device through clicking Download button. After the device receives

the newest configuring data, they are stored to FLASH memorizer, and the working

mode of device is changed according to the newest configuring data.

Upload: Upload the newest network manager data which is stored in FLASH memorizer,

    3.7.3 .1 Special Tagging

Special Tagging is a private protocol. It will add a Tagging on the ETH packet which hadset the 802.1Q VLAN Tag. It can use add the Tag ID in the network. It can separate the4ETH port in the PDH base on Tag, but never effect the VLAN ID in the switch which

connect to the ETH port of PDH.

    Like follow:

In the Special Tagging mode, the LAN1, LAN2, LAN3, LAN4 cant communication eachother, the each LAN, can set VLAN ID of 1-4095.In the NMS system, each PDH can be set to be 4 special Tagging at most, each ETHport is set to be 1 special Tagging.

3.7. 4 Set the ETH Port

This interface is used for configuring attribute of each ETH port, including LAN port 1,

2, 3, 4 and one WAN port. LAN port shows 4 ETH ports offered by device, WAN port is

inner port of device, which connects remote device through optical port. Attribute

configuration of each ETH port includes 802.1Q tag Insertion and Removal, 802.3 X

Pause Enable and Disable, Port Forwarding Enable and Disable, Broadcast Storm

Protection Enable and Disable, Port Rate Limitation based on 32kbps (speed range is

0~100M), Speed and Duplex configuration of each ETH port.

802.1q Tag: Insert shows to insert Tag, when the data packet which is output from this

port has been with Tag, dont make any changes; if without Tag, insert VLAN ID which is

default in input port in the data packet.

Remove shows to remove Tag, when the data packet which is output from this

port has been with Tag, remove this Tag; if without Tag, dont make any changes.

802.3X: Enable shows to enable PAUSE of ETH port, Disable shows to disable

    PAUSE of ETH port.

Port ForwardingEnable shows to enable Port Forwarding of ETH port, Disable

shows to disable Port Forwarding of ETH port.

Broadcast Storm ProtectionEnable shows to enable restrain function of ETH

Broadcast Storm, this port only allows 1% of ETH Broadcast packet to pass. Disable

shows to disable restrain function of ETH Broadcast Storm, this port forwards all ETH

    Broadcast packet.

Rate Limitation: take 32kbps as step-size to adjust port rate, value rang is 0~3200.
