The 1-1/4” Weep Sill does provide drainage for some water
management, but no claims for water and air performance
shall be assumed.
NOTE: For products without a rating, an appropriate
overhang as well as a sloped patio should be used to reduce
the likelihood of water infiltration. Failure to do so may result

■ Allocation of Risks of Pella Product Performance. Because all construction must anticipate some water infiltration, it is important that the wall system be designed and constructed to properly manage moisture. Pella Corporation is not responsible for claims or damages caused by anticipated or unanticipated water infiltration; deficiencies in building design, construction and maintenance; failure to install Pella products in accordance with Pella Installation Instructions; or the use of Pella products in barrier wall systems, which do not allow for proper management of moisture within the wall system (see the following). The determination of the suitability of all building components, including the use of Pella products, as well as the design and installation of flashing and sealing systems, are the responsibility of Buyer or User, the architect, contractor, installer or other construction professional and is not the responsibility of Pella. All risks related to building design and construction, or the maintenance, installation and use of Pella® products, shall be assumed by Buyer and/or User.
■ Limitation of Liability. This Limited Warranty sets forth the maximum liability for our products. DIMENSIONS AND PQM
Dimensions32
Dimensions calculated in PQM!• Rough Opening includes pocket• Frame Width = track length into pocket• Day Light Opening = hole in the wall• Rough Opening
Pocket Depth = how deep into the wall• Overall Track Depth = like min. Wall Depth• Finished Pocket Width= width of cavity when
` facing pocket

Dimensions are in PQM.
Reference the ADM on
pro.pella.com for size
calculations and formulas
Dimensions - PQM
1. Enter by Frame Width
and Frame Height
2. Only shows the eligible
configurations for
width/height
Dimensions - PQM
3. Sill Type is IMPORTANT as this must match the FINISHED FLOOR HEIGHT
4. Panel Height is then calculated based on Frame Height and Sill Type selected
Dimensions – Pocket Doors35
A Frame Width of 143.5” in a 1-Pocket Door has a DLO of about 104.875”
1. Enter by FRAME WIDTH
and Frame Height,
NOT DAYLIGHT
OPENING!
2. Frame Width means the
Track Length, which
extends INTO the
pocket.
You must enter Frame Width in PQM.
Current functionality does not support entering by Daylight Opening or Panel Size. So…
1. PQM will calculate the Daylight opening and Panel Sizes for verification, or
2. Use the Frame Size Calculator to calculate the Frame Width by Panel or DLO size.
1. Go to mypella.com>NEW! (https://mypella.com/PellaPortal/New/)
2. Locate the Scenescape product launch section
3. Find the Frame Size Calculator by Panel or DLO. Save to your desktop.

■ Know the difference between Rough Opening vs Frame Width vs Daylight Opening
37
Note for sales reps & installers: Wood interior Pocket Closer is purposely 1-1/2” to 2” shorter than door panel to
avoid interference with head track

■ Exterior Access
■ Example on right: 1L-3R,
Passage Door is on left of split as viewed from exterior
■ Notice left hinge ‘angle’ symbol on left panel
41
PQM - Reminders/Alerts
■ Overall Track Depth Reviewed = Must answer Yes
– Like minimum Wall Depth; must acknowledge
■ Wall depth MUST be able to handle the overall track depth, so check values
in PQM. As stated, the number of tracks will determine the minimum wall
depth required. Overall wall depth for multi-slides and lift-and-slides will vary
by project and depends on the architectural design of the structure.

KNOW BEFOREYOU SELL
KNOW BEFORE YOU SELL
Many products do not have air and water performance. Building design and application must fit
the product. Only the Architect Series outswing bifold has ratings for water and air performance.
No claims or statements of air and water performance are made on remaining products. An
excerpt from the Pella Wood Windows and Doors warranty states: “This Limited Warranty does not extend to the use of Covered Pella Products under abnormal conditions,
conditions that exceed the stated performance parameters of the product as provided on the product
labeling and in the Pella Architectural Design Manual or under conditions not reasonably foreseeable to,
or beyond the control of, Pella. Buyer and User assume all risk of any such use.”
For products without a rating, an appropriate overhang as well as a sloped patio should be used
to reduce the likelihood of water infiltration. Failure to do so may result in damage to the interior
of the structure. Diagram is available within the installation instructions.
Load Requirements: A structural engineer may need to be involved to assure proper header
strength (and floor) to carry the load of the doors. This is vital to prevent header sag, and is one of
two primary causes for operational issues. Risk and liability is escalated if the product is installed
into an insufficient structure, with recovery and troubleshooting difficult without removing the
unit, reinforcing the structure, and reinstalling.
KNOW BEFORE YOU SELL
Having a rough opening and resulting product that is not plumb, level and square is the 2nd primary
reason for operational issues. There is little tolerance acceptable. Many times adjustments may
continue to be needed if not done properly. In some cases, the entire unit should be removed in
order for adjustments to be made to the RO before re-installing the product. This is not an “install
quickly and move on” type of product.
Wall depths requirements vary based on product configuration. Multi-slides and Lift-and-slides track
depths are based on the # of sill tracks, and vary from 5.5” up to 22 inches. The wall depth then
extends beyond that dimension based on interior and exterior structure design. Bifold inswing has
only 6-9/16”. Bifold outswing does have more flexibility, starting at 4-9/16” up to 7-3/16”.
Installation may be complex for installers unfamiliar with the product. Review of installation
methods and requirements should be done prior to assigning an install team to assure questions
can be answered ahead of time. Adjustments and trouble-shooting tips should be reviewed ahead of
time.
Panels are delivered on pallets, and sill tracks are delivered in up to 24’ tubes, depending on the
size of the unit. A forklift is required to take delivery at the branch. Delivery to a Retail customer
home should be taken into consideration if the track length exceeds the delivery truck’s limitations.
KNOW BEFORE YOU SELL
Set Expectations with the Installer:
Panels must be stored in a dry, upright position
until installed.
Do not slide the panels on their rollers across
ANY surface other than once installed in the sill
tracks. This will cause damage to the rollers
and are not covered under warranty.
Protection must be afforded to the sill tracks
once installed, for the remainder of job-site
activity. Build a ramp and protection over the
sill. See picture for example.
Installation Instructions must be followed.
