    IntroductionApplication Guideline

1 Application Guideline1.1 IntroductionThis chapter introduces installation rules for general purposeand hazardous areas. It describes applications per hazardousarea, listing applicable standards as reference and generalinstallation rules. For easy reading, each chapter contains therelevant information for the protection method described. Justflip to the chapter listing applications for the hazardous area ofyour choice. Each application lists the respective selectionguideline with complete choices.

In this context, live maintenance describes the fact that it ispermissible to work or operate on electrical circuits or parts ofelectrical circuits such as the instruments or the spur connec-tion in the hazardous area without legal requirements for per-mits such as a hot work permit, gas clearance, or other legaldocumentation. Company rules and guidelines for generalsafety may still apply.

1.2 Important Fieldbus TermsFieldbus systems in process automation provide power andcommunication on a single-shielded, twisted-pair cable. Theyare designed for application in demanding environments, longcable runs, and high device counts connected to the samecable. With fieldbus, reaches all the way to the field deviceallowing for full configuration, control, and communication ofinstruments from the safety of the control room.

A single electrical circuit with power supply, junction boxes, and instruments is called a segment. The typical topology for asegment is the trunk-and-spur topology with a main line orhomerun cable the trunk installed from the control roominto the field. One or more junction boxes mounted in the fieldprovide connection outputs for field Instruments and termina-tors. The connection cable is called a spur, as it is typicallyshort in comparison to the trunk.

Instruments can be actors or sensors, analog or digital. Thephysical layer, power, communication, and connection areidentical for all instruments. Fieldbus power supplies typicallyprovide connections to the DCS and power the segment. A typi-cal topology and most typical applications are shown below.

    General Purpose AreaApplication Guideline

1.4 General Purpose AreaSince no hazardous materials are present, there are no safetyrestrictions on the power supplied to the field devices. TheHigh-Power Trunk Concept was developed to offer the highestpower to the field, which results in the longest cable runs andthe most field devices per segment.

Recommended installation practices for optimal bus perfor-mance can be found in the Wiring and Installation Guide pub-lished by the Fieldbus Foundation or in the PROFIBUS PAUser and Installation Guideline published by PROFIBUS Inter-national. Additional installation regulations should be fol-lowed according to local standards such as the NEC or VDE.

For a detailed selection of components, see Selection Guide-line on page 19.

Devices in Zone 2 Application Guideline

1.5 Devices in Zone 2For Zone 2, choices for explosion protection fulfill differenttypes of requirements such as long cable runs or live mainte-nance at field instruments. It is important to know that in somecases, even the host interface connections must meet certainrequirements for explosion protection. More details can befound in the Pepperl+Fuchs FieldConnex Application Guidelinefor Zone 2, which can be found as a free download on the Pep-perl+Fuchs website. Please look for the datasheets on Field-Connex Segment Protectors.

1.5.1 Live Maintenance on Spurs (FISCO) Ex ic, High-Power Trunk

This method of explosion protection offers live maintenance atthe spur/device level and the easiest validation process forintrinsic safety. The applicable standard for intrinsic safetyFISCO Ex ic is IEC 60079-27 as of edition 2.

The fieldbus power supply limits the voltage to safe levels. TheSegment Protector acts as the fieldbus coupler and wiring inter-face. It limits the current to safe levels. Due to the unlimitedtrunk energy, live work at the trunk requires a hot work permit. However, live connect or disconnect at the outputs of the Seg-ment Protector is allowed.

Field devices according to FISCO are allowed to be connected tothe outputs of the Segment Protector under an intrinsically safeEx ic rating. The Entity parameters of the cable shall be in thelimits of the FISCO cable specification given in IEC 60079-27.Generally, fieldbus cable type 'A' fulfills the specificationsaccording to FISCO.

The host interface shall meet the requirements for SELV/PELV.The declaration of conformity must state the passivity of anyhost interface, meaning that the host shall not be an activepower source. If the host interface is installed in Zone 2, a dec-laration of conformity must be provided in addition.

    Devices in Zone 2Application Guideline

1.5.2 Live Maintenance on Spurs (Entity) Ex ic, High-Power TrunkThis method of protection offers live maintenance at the spur.Work on the trunk requires a hot work permit. In comparison toFISCO Ex ic, the voltage output is higher, providing a higherdevice count or longer cable runs. The applicable standard forintrinsic safety is IEC 60079-11 as of edition 5.

The fieldbus power supply defines and provides output ratingsfor the intrinsically safe spurs. In gas group IIC hazardous area, the maximum output voltage is limited to U0 = 24 V. The Seg-ment Protector acts as the fieldbus coupler and wiring inter-face. It limits the current to safe levels. Due to the unlimitedtrunk energy, live work at the trunk requires a hot work permit. However, live connect or disconnect at the outputs of the Seg-ment Protector is allowed.

Field devices, certified Ex ic Entity according to IEC 60079-11are allowed to be connected to the outputs of the Segment Pro-tector under an intrinsically safe Ex ic rating if the given safetyvalues match. The certified or declared safety values of thefield devices have to match the safety values of the combina-tion of fieldbus power supply and Segment Protector.

The host interface shall meet the requirements for SELV/PELV.The declaration of conformity must state the passivity of anyhost interface, meaning that the host shall not be an activepower source. If the host interface is installed in Zone 2, a dec-laration of conformity must be provided in addition.

Devices in Zone 2 Application Guideline

1.5.3 Live Maintenance on Spurs Ex nL, High-Power TrunkThis application is based on the now-expired standardIEC 60079-15 edition 3, which is applicable for installationsand replacement components only. It is no longer applicablefor the manufacture of new components. The Ex nL standardhas been replaced by the Ex ic standard, which guaranteesbackwards compatibility. All components rated Ex ic can beapplied as direct replacements.

The Ex nL standard offers live maintenance at the spur. Work onthe trunk requires a hot work permit. The guiding standard fornon-incendive energy limitation is IEC 60079-15 edition 3.

The fieldbus power supply defines the output rating of theenergy-limited spurs. In the gas group IIC hazardous area, themaximum output voltage is limited to U0 = 24 V. The SegmentProtector acts as the wiring interface and can be installed inZone 2. Live connect or disconnect at the outputs of the Seg-ment Protector is allowed with proper validation of safetyrequirements according to the Entity concept.

The host interface requires a declaration of conformity, whichdeclares the passivity of any host interface, meaning that thehost shall not be an active power source. If the host interface isinstalled in Zone 2, a declaration of conformity for installationin Zone 2 must also be provided.

Field devices matching the output rating of the power supplyand certified Ex nL or Ex ic (Entity) are allowed to be connectedto the outputs of the Segment Protector under a Zone 2 energy-limited rating.

1.5.4 Hot Work Permit Required, Spurs Ex nA, High-Power TrunkThis application is suitable where live work on the trunk or spuris typically not required, and a hot work permit for such work isacceptable. All installation and cabling requires increasedprotection according to IEC 60079-14.

The power supply can be rated for maximum cable distances.Any FieldConnex Segment Protector works as a fieldbus couplerand wiring interface. It can be installed in Zone 2. The outputterminals of the Segment Protector are rated Ex nA. Electricalwork on trunk and spurs always requires a hot work permit.

Field instruments are typically Ex d or Ex nA rated and installedin Zone 2. Only mechanical means of explosion protectionapply to the installation.

Devices in Zone 1 and 0 Application Guideline

    1.6 Devices in Zone 1 and 0

1.6.1 Live Maintenance on Trunk and Spurs Ex iaThis application is applicable to both zones. Devices and junc-tion boxes are installed either in Zone 0 or Zone 1. The junctionboxes are associated simple apparatus. This application isbased on IEC 60079-11 for intrinsic safety according to Entityand IEC 60079-27 for FISCO, the Fieldbus Intrinsically Safe Con-cept.

Live work on any part of the segment without a hot work permitis enabled through intrinsic safety at the power supply.

To validate intrinsic safety, the two concepts of Entity andFISCO are applicable. All wiring follows practices for intrinsicsafety according to IEC 60079-14. Only intrinsically safe fieldinstruments Ex ia (Zone 0 or Zone 1) or Ex ib (Zone 1 only) arepermitted on the segment.

1.6.2 Live Maintenance on Spurs Ex ia, High-Power TrunkThe High-Power Trunk Concept combines the benefits of intrin-sic safety at the spur level with long cable runs and high devicecounts. This concept allows a very flexible segment design. Itoffers a choice of validating intrinsic safety per spur accordingto IEC 60079-11 for intrinsic safety with Entity parameters orIEC 60079-27, which is the Fieldbus Intrinsically Safe Concept(FISCO). The trunk is installed protected following the rules ofIEC 60079-14.

The FieldBarrier is the fieldbus coupler and wiring interface. Itcan be installed in Zone 1. The outputs of the FieldBarrier areintrinsically safe (Ex ia). Electrical work on the trunk requires ahot work permit. Electrical work is permitted at the instrumentand the spur without a hot work permit.

The trunk connections of the FieldBarrier are equipped with ter-minals rated Ex e (increased safety). The trunk requires installa-tion with increased mechanical protection according toIEC 60079-14. Instruments can be rated Ex ia for Zone 0 or 1 orEx ib for Zone 1 according to Entity and FISCO.

1.6.3 Live Maintenance on Trunk and Spurs Ex ib (Zone 1), High-Power TrunkFieldConnex DART Fieldbus provides intrinsically safe and highoutput power at the trunk through DART Technology (DynamicArc Recognition and Termination). In combination, the DARTPower Hub and DART Segment Protector make the High-PowerTrunk intrinsically safe for Zone 1. DART Fieldbus follows rulesand certification according to IEC 60079-11.

A trunk-and-spur topology is mandatory. The DART SegmentProtector is the fieldbus coupler and wiring interface certifiedfor installation in Zone 1. Up to four DART Segment Protectorscan be installed on one segment. A trunk length up to 1000 mis permitted. In all other design rules such as spur length, num-ber of participants, etc., DART Fieldbus follows the fieldbusstandard IEC 61158-2. The outputs of the DART Segment Pro-tector are intrinsically safe (Ex ib) rated for existing intrinsicallysafe instruments (Ex ib, Entity). Electrical work on trunk andspurs is permitted without a hot work permit.

Both trunk and spurs follow installation rules for intrinsic safetyas defined in IEC 60079-14. Any existing Entity-conformantfield instrument rated Ex ib can be connected to a DART Seg-ment Protector. The instrument is typically installed in Zone 1.In most cases, this is sufficient even for most field instrumentsrated for Zone 0 as they typically offer connections located inZone 1.

For example, the instrument that is certified Ex ib [ia] ismounted on the wall of the tank with the sensor in Zone 0 andthe connection terminals in Zone 1.

    1.7 Devices in Class I, Division 2

1.7.1 Non-Incendive Field WiringThis application is suitable for live maintenance of spur con-nections in a Division 2 hazardous area. Utilizing the non-incendive Entity Concept as defined by the NEC500 allowsdevices with published Entity parameters to be coupled in aDivision 2 area. These devices may be intrinsically safe devicesor non-incendive field wiring devices.

The fieldbus junction box becomes the associated non-incen-dive field wiring apparatus and limits the voltage (Voc), pro-vided by the fieldbus power supply (Vout), and current to thefield device. Live maintenance is allowed as long as the fielddevice also known as the non-incendive field wiring apparatusor intrinsically safe device has a maximum Entity voltage (Vmax)greater than the voltage provided by the power supply:Vmax Voc = Vout

    IntroductionSelection Guideline

2 Selection Guideline2.1 IntroductionThis selection guideline takes you through the process ofselecting all components of the fieldbus infrastructure, powersupply, fieldbus coupler, and accessories that are right for yourprocess automation system. It allows selection of systemattributes in this order:

    Fieldbus system

    Explosion protection if required

    DCS system connection

    Product attributes

    2.2 Selecting Your FieldConnex Infrastructure

First, select and verify that the chosen concept for explosionprotection is applicable in the hazardous area.

Second, select the appropriate power supply. There are simplexpower supplies and modular power hubs. With power hubs, apower supply module must be selected. Choices for FieldCon-nex Advanced Diagnostics are not included in this part and arehandled elsewhere. If you would like to apply FieldConnex

Advanced Diagnostics, ensure that this option is available foryour power supply.

Decision criteria for a power supply are:

    DCS connections

    Redundancy

    Space requirements

    Attributes contributing to availability

Third, select the fieldbus coupler that is right for you. All Field-Connex fieldbus couplers come fitted with housing, prewiring, and accessories. This section lists datasheets for enclosures invarious protection ratings and materials.

2.3 Methods of Explosion Protection by Hazardous Area

Please verify that the type of ignition protection is available forthe hazardous area. The following table matches explosion pro-tection applications with chapters from this selection guide-line. Note that although other combinations are possible, thetable contains only practical solutions.

2.4.1 General Selection GuidelinesIf available, select a FieldConnex Power Hub motherboard to fitthe DCS connections. This is easy to install as it reduces wiringin the control room cabinet with a design that integrates wellwith the DCS system.

The DB25 connector of the generic motherboard, *.GEN,enables an easy and effective fit to any DCS. Custom cables forconnection are provided upon request. Please inquire with thelocal sales office.

High-density motherboards MBHD-*High-density motherboards are a cost-effective solution to fieldbus installations.

Compact motherboards MBHC-*Compact motherboards offer the highest packing density in the cabinet with superior design and low heat dissipation.

Universal motherboards MB-*Universal motherboards offer the largest choice of options, for example CREST. CREST is a passive filtering circuit allowing best transmission of fieldbus signal quality.

    Important

In Zone 2/Div. 2 environments, it is vital to select the right com-bination of power supply and fieldbus coupler (Segment Pro-tector). The power supply limits the voltage while the SegmentProtector limits the current. On occasion, even the connectionand protection of the host interface requires review and certifi-cation. Only then is explosion protection ensured at the spur.

2.4.2 Intrinsically Safe Trunk and Spurs: Ex ia

Intrinsically safe power supplies Ex ia are not available forFOUNDATION Fieldbus H1. Please refer to Ex ib DART Fieldbusbelow for a complete solution of intrinsically safe fieldbusinfrastructure.

    PROFIBUS PA Selection Guideline

    2.5 PROFIBUS PA

2.5.1 General Selection GuidelinesSegment Couplers SK3 and SK1 are equipped with DB9 connec-tors for PROFIBUS DP. The Segment Coupler SK3 consists of twomotherboards for power supplies and gateways respectively. Itthus requires selection for both motherboards and plug-inmodules. Advanced Diagnostics is always available as anoption.

The exception is the compact Segment Coupler, which isprovided as one complete kit with motherboard, power andgateway modules, please see: KT-MB-GTB-2PS or KT-MB-GTB-D-2PS. For Advanced Diagnostics the stand-alone version can beused if required.

Segment Coupler 1 is an all in one solution based on the K-Sys-tem housing.
