The solar training by Greenpeace Africa for the volunteers in Durban (mostly university students) was part of their preparation for helping GP at the COP 17 conference end of November 2011 in Durban.
The students have been trained by theory lectures, practical work, group work and role games to the topics of renewable energies, solar energy (PV and thermal applications), energy saving, etc. as well as how to approach media.
From the practical side, a solar- and windpowered multi media unit in a car trailer has been built. Other practical action was the soldering of solar torches and cooking with solar energy.
