Everyone at Pirton Hill Primary School is immensely proud of our school. We take pride in being a truly inclusive school, valuing each pupil equally, recognising them as individuals who bring their own unique gifts and talents to the school community.

All schools have their own distinctive `feel` which makes them unique. We believe that we have created a `special feel` at Pirton Hill Primary School because of the caring and friendly atmosphere created by all staff, working as a team to ensure that pupils strive for

and reach their potential. It is important to us that every child enjoys school and feels a sense of belonging. We are proud of our inclusive ethos, in which all contributions to the school community are valued and pupils are given every opportunity to achieve their potential.

Our curriculum is designed to reflect our aims and to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and other government guidance.

The Leadership Team has developed a curriculum which provides pupils with many exciting opportunities to learn in meaningful contexts both inside and out, to visit interesting places, develop

their talents and character leaving them equipped and empowered for the next stage of their learning journey.

Basic skills in Literacy and Maths are vital and emphasis is rightly placed upon them, wrapped up in imaginative and creative teaching to make learning fun, interactive, challenging and exciting.

Curriculum and Learning (A Passion For Learning)

At Pirton Hill Primary we have a huge amount of talented pupils and believe that it is our responsibility to provide every opportunity to enable pupils to develop skills and reach their potential. We therefore offer a comprehensive range of academic and sporting clubs, which help to develop valuable life skills including confidence, self-esteem and teamwork.

Sporting clubs are organised by a designated P.E. teacher who works with a range of external coaches to ensure the pupils develop their physical skills. The school participates in a wide variety of sporting competitions and fixtures

and understands that being part of a team instils important values and beliefs into students who participate.

In addition to sporting clubs the school offers a range of curriculum activities such as ICT, Science, School Choir, Orchestra, Art/Design, Cooking and Gardening Clubs. Our School Choir and Orchestra are run by a specialist music teacher and are very active at community events.

Schools visits and residential visits are organised as part of learning beyond the curriculum.

Pirton Hill Primary is very active within our community and we have developed excellent links with local high schools and other primary schools.

Throughout the year community visitors are invited to attend various events held at school.

Community

To maintain our vibrant and positive learning environment, we recognise that it is essential to listen to the thoughts and opinions of pupils. We have several avenues in which pupils are able to share their thoughts, such as:

• Curriculum Co-ordinator Prefects• Sports Prefects• Prefects• School Councillors - voted for by their peers, they meet weekly to plan and

implement various events and initiatives around school, they also look at ways in which we might improve the school for all pupils.

Pupil Voice

School meals are prepared daily on site by our ‘Food Counts’ Team using a range of high quality, fresh produce sourced locally wherever possible. This ensures that pupils taking a school lunch receive a healthy meal, providing fuel to develop their minds and bodies.
